We have always owned our homes. It is tax deductable, and realeste usually goes up. Renting is aw throwing your month out, in my opinon. If you have no choice, then it cannot be helped though.

But the house is yours, and you can get a refund from the government at the end of the year from the interest on the mortgage. When you rent, you throw out the money month to month. I'm glad you have a home now. Bet you are too.

just bought my first house after 15 years of renting ... in the first 3 months, I've had to do major work on the A/C, replace the flooring in the living room, fix two door and now it looks like there will be major work on the pool needed. I didn't buy it as a fixer upper either, had a glowing home inspection and everything. If I was renting, all i would've had to do is call the landlord, not try to juggle buying food and having a/c.

I own my home. I rented for several years before buying a house. I bought the house a little over 3 years ago when interest rates were at an all time low. My monthly mortgage is about the same on my almost 3000 square foot house as my rent was on an 1100 square foot 2 bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, utilities are over twice as much. UGH!
When I decided to buy a house, I read everything I could get my hands on. I couldn't decided for the longest if I should buy or just keep renting. Granted, I know that I would have nothing to show for renting another 3 or 4 years, but I would gain equity if I bought, but it was still a huge decision. I knew that once I bought a house, I was going to stay in the area for a while...thankfully, I have a job that I really like, so I haven't really wanted to pack up and move lately!

Renting has its own benefits if u avail of tax rebates,so also having , the funds to buy ,but divert these funds,in some business,to earn more than the rent u are paying, but property prices keeps shooting up, a day may come when one cant afford to buy.I have my ownhouse.

I would definiatly recomend owning. There are some advantages to renting, like if something breaks it is someone else's problem, but I think the bads out due the good when it comes to this.

I only rented for 6 months right after I graduated from high school and then started to buy my first house. I am 26 and am 3 years into buying my second house, but third piece of property. I did not like renting, and love the fact that I have a house in the city, to be near stores and schools, and one out in the country on 7 acres where we can hunt, go on hikes, and we have ponds to fish, and run around, and a 10 acre parcel to one day I hope either build on or make trails for four wheelers on.

I am renting now in the city but for long term I prefer acquiring my own house 'cus renting is very expensive than paying something that will be yours someday so sooner or later I will be buying my own house already. I hope that myLot wou;d still be running then so in away could help with at least bills expenses...hehe.
