Did Jesus ever exist?

I saw this posting in another forum and I could not let pass by. I think the author makes sense so I would like to share with my friends in here."Despite his popularity and unquestioned existence, there is not the slightest bit of physical evidence to support a historical Jesus - no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus.
In addition, there is not a single contemporary (ie secular) piece of documentation that mentions Jesus. All documents regarding Jesus were written well after the alleged life of Jesus by either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings.
All reliable evidence for the historical actuality of Jesus Christ are purely hearsay."
hear·say
noun 1.unverified, unofficial information gained or acquired from another and not part of one's direct knowledge: I pay no attention to hearsay. (Dictionary.com)
Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it. Hearsay is just not reliable evidence - there is no way of knowing whether the person lies, or simply bases his or her information on wrongful belief or bias.
As for the question of whether or not the Gospels are a reliable source of Jesus' existence, hearsay again, presents itself. The problem with the Gospels is that we don't even know who wrote them, and furthermore, they were all written well after Jesus' alleged life. Even more problematic is that none of the original Gospels exist, just copies of copies.
Furthermore, many of Jesus' sayings, miracles, and his virgin birth, rising, and symbolic "son" identity, can all be traced back to earlier religions - namely Mithraism, paganism, Hinduism, and a host of other extremely old religious belief systems. It's as though the authors of the bible stole earlier religions' god figure, incorporating all of his qualities into Jesus.
There really is zero supporting evidence to suggest that Jesus Christ ever lived, died, and rose again. Because of this, I do not believe Jesus Christ ever existed. Quite possibly the early writers of what would become the bible were using symbolism and did not actually believe what they wrote to be true.
That said, I believe Jesus, as he is known today, is a complete and total fabrication and that his myth has continued on to become something that not only do people take literally, but worship."What do you think?

I am not a Christian, I am a true Hindu ! I believe in Jesus Christ and his mother Virgin Mary .. He existed .. what he did for human kind is something no human can do other than if he is GODS CHILD .. Why they may have related to other religion maybe is beause, the other religion do believe in god taking the form of human to fight demon. hinduism existed during the times of demons, giants, wizards and all. And god took all the different form to fight demons. But Jesus was there during the human civilization, he took the fom of JESUS to educate human on religion, remind human of him, show human that he exists .
Hope that by refering the above i do not hurt any believe, it is just my view. I and even my husband cried when we saw the movie JESUS CHRIST .. it was not just a movie it was JESUS from the eyes of another human.

i am a hindu too ...but i don`t believe in either Jesus or any of the hindu gods , i believe they are all just stories written by people very long time back but we do not have any proof whether they were true or fiction.....Consider this 2000 in the future somebody finds the book Harry Potter , there is no one to tell who JK Rowling was or whether the story was true or not....Don`t you think Harry Potter will become GOD for them....

you should watch the movie, it is banned in my country .. we managed to pull some strings to get it .. a person who do not love him will love him for what he sacrificed for us human .. I believe he was here for us and to wash away our sins.. I was so confused during the movie, if i wanted to be there when it happened to touch him or i do not dare to see what he went through. I really can not express how it felt ..an that was only the movie. I still have it and i will never watch it again ..

i strognly believe that my Lord existed thousand years ago and tehre actual archaeological proof of his existence..this is the link..
http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn44/existence.htm
now if this is not enough and still question His existence and if He is a myth like others says i think that is an excuse that they make for not believing His teachings as well..people who like to live their lives not accordance to what Christ likes us to live and denying His existence is one good way...
also be reminded that not only Jesus existence is being question by history but other people and facts like yamashita treasure, mohamad pelgrim and the list goes on...
the fact that the poeple who wrote about Christ realy exist and the truth is they dont know each other (most of them emerged from different places and time)but they speak of Jesus the same way..like Luke (the author of gospel of Luke) he is a doctor and he didnt met personally john or even paul but they speak about Jesus and talkd about His miracles...one more thing their books were written in different time and places as well...

So many things are true that science cannot prove. I believe in what I observe for my self and if it does not make sense I just ignore it. I follow facts and that helps me a lot in life, many theories were there, so you can decide how to live your life. Jesus I did not see personally but I know for fact that he existed!

Dear Ron,
it is the believe, god will guide one person and give him all the opportunity for him to know which is right or wrong. it is up to you to grab it and cheerish it.
I will like to share a story that you may have heard, but i still want to share with you but i will shorten it.
there was a flood this man ran up to the roof and asked god to help him and prayed hard. 5 minutes later a man in small boat asked him to follow. The man refused to follow saying god will help him. the water was getting higher. the man continued praying for god to help him. Next a speed boat came, the man offered him help. The man refused again, and continued to pray. Next an helicopter came, they put the steps for him to clim up, this man refused again and continued to pray. The water went up and up and he drowned. he went to heaven and asked god "I believed you, why did you not come and help me? " and god replied .. I came in the small boat, then in speed boat and then in helicopter and you did not follow me ... Do you believe in me, my son ?
Sorry in any way if the above is offensive , just want to share my thoughts with you ... science has proved something the ancient people wrote long ago ..they were written without any scientific apparels of today. Even Scientist are amazed by this ..

Awwwww Val this one is a little bit strong mainly for people who do believe in Jesus Christ. As I saw in here seems this guy or whoever wrote this is not a fan of religion, but he or she should respect the beliefs of others even though as he said is no proove of anything. I believe in things that I do not see, he or she exagerated right there.

What is important is your belief. Sometimes miths are more important than the true story. There is an occult sentence that says: "your faith must be great...strong your desire and faith"...so, no matter for the truth...whatever you believe is your leading path!!!

I do believe he existed, yes. But I do also believe that the stories concerning his life will have become somewhat convoluted over the last 200 years or so as well. This is the nature of mankind! People by default will always question situations that do not supply physical proof in parallel. So once again it all comes down to FAITH. Question Jesus based on lack of physical evidence etc then you may as well discount every other religion and faith throughout history as well. Acceptance, tolerance and understanding is the key here. Regardless of whether anyone believes in his existence or not, the fact of the matter is that the FAITH in a knowledge of his life has bettered billions of people throughout history. Same principle exists with Buddha, Confucious, Mohammed and countless others. Rather than focus on proving one way or another what is real and what is not; it would be far more productive to live and let live so to speak and appreciate everyone's faith in something and accept it as well.
