Did You Hear or Read About the Olympics Opening Ceremony Performer Issue?

Apparently, the opening ceremony performer Lin Miaoke lip-sunched to the voice of a seven year old Yang Peiyi. "Yang was rejected by a senior member of the Communist Party at a rehearsal because she had a chubby face and crooked teeth" according to National Post article dated August 19, 2008.
Do you think this was a mean thing to do to the poor child, banning her to appear or participate in the ceremony and use his voice? They should not have done it to the poor kid. So what if she did not have a perfect face, people would not have mind it. What do you say about it?
Just Curious?

I think that they did the right thing. Well the communist part of me does... (I'm not communist, I'm just saying, that's what a communist would think.)
This is why I think the Olympics should have been boycotted this year. But no, a lot of people had to get their gold medals, and their WR's. China is trying to make themselves look good. And they won't stop at anything. The other night it was revealed that some of the fireworks that we watched on TV were computer generated. If thousands of people were coming to China, especially political leaders, and they saw what China was really like there would be an uproar. Maybe the U.S. would actually get involved and try to change out their government(sort of like in Iraq right now) and maybe other countries as well. Persecution is great, people live in horrible conditions. They moved out thousands of people from their homes so they could build the stadium... They have wasted over 40 billion dollars on all the ceremonies and the building costs. And that pretty much does not cover labor, because most of the labor was very very cheap. It's gruesome what they do to their own people, but it's true. And I think that the fact that they wouldn't let a 7-year old sing because she had bad teeth and was chubby is not what we should be outraged by...

That's absolutely terrible. I am not watching the olympics because of all the problems in China with the internet, the press website,s human rights, and now this. I don't like what they are doing over there, and I am not going to watch the games. I think the Chinese communist Party needs to go sit on a really sharp spike!!

Ya I did, it a shame. That poor kid is cute but sad to be said as uncute kid with band and crooked teeth and should not be seen by the world. I think its quite hurting for the poor kid. I don't think people will mind about the look of the kid as nothing is perfect and why do they want to fake a "perfect" opening.

Hi my friend,
I think that is just horrible to do that to a little girl and think it's horrible for the parent's of the girl to use her voice. The little girl's voice was very lovely and they should have let her stand there and sing it herself. I guess China just wanted to show how perfect they are and didn't care about human feelings.
