so I'm on Mylot, trying to take my mind off the bills I may not be able to pay if I don't get another job soon. I've applied to a couple and been rejected already. I think they knew who they wanted to begin with. A Target is opening in a couple of months up here. I need to pay bills now, unfortunately, but at least they're hiring. Should be ex-employee category or job hunting one here.

Hello writersedge. I am so sorry to hear about your job situation. How frustrating that must have been. And it sounded pretty difficult with alot of pressure being placed on the employees such as yourself. I think Target would be an absolutely wonderful, and fun place to work! Plus, a person might get to walk and move around some, which makes for less stress than sitting at a desk all day. At least, it sounds like it would be less stressful. I hope that you find the kind of job that you are looking for, writersedge. Or at least one that you can live with and enjoy. Good luck. I am sending positive job-hunting vibes your way! Take care.

Hi Pearl Grace, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I prayed to God to let me know if I should work there or not. I sold nothing for 4 days, so they let me go before even my 2 weeks were up, so at least I know. I think Target might be cool. Checked on their website. Lots of environmental initiatives and give back to the community, etc. Will see if they'll take me. August the Third, I need over $500 a month for my mortgage, $277 a month for my car, $65 for my light bill plus repaying a loan, medical bills and day to day living expenses, gas, etc. $2,000 a month. You tell me how to do that with Mylot, Associated Content, etc. and I will be happy to do those things. I need a real job. I appreciate the advice, but there are other things, there has to be, that can help me get that amount of money. Mylot and Associated Content aren't going to get that kind of money for me. See my other discussions, I have lots of ideas, see if any of them might work out or might not be a good idea. Take care and yes, something is better than nothing , but $10 to $100 a month when you need thousands isn't going to make it.

You do what you have to do. If you mylot a lot--and I do mean a lot...just keep persistent at it...along with associatedcontent...it can pay dividends. You just have to keep at it. Anything to keep from going completely broke. While I am looking, I intend to keep working at stuff I already have. That IMO is the only way to make it through these times.

I am so sorry of what happened! Is it because the American economy is getting worse? Seems like unemployment rate will raise again for some reason. I know it must be stressful to have to look for another job again and be worried about the bills and living. I hope you will get another job really soon. Good luck!

It might be because of the economy a little bit, but mostly they hire 20 new people each week, put them in sales and only keep the top earners. I was doing poorly, prayed for a sign and got it. I sold nothing for 4 days, so they let me go. There has to be something I can do out there. I just have to find it. Thanks, I hope I get another job really soon, too. Thanks for the luck.

Ouch, I am so sorry you lost your job yesterday. It's difficult for me to suggest where you should look for a job since I don't know what sort of job you are searching for or any other details. I do know that many of the work at home programs on Craigslist or Backpage are scams. They want money upfront. I have looked into several. Good luck with your job search, carolbee

Thanks, I know, there are a lot of scams out there. I have to get off the internet now in case someone calls me. Thanks for your well-wishes. I've had almost every job there is in my area, I think I need a new area. Take care

The door could have been closed to open a new opportunity. I would apply for unemployment while I'm looking (it isn't a charity thing because if you don't have enough time invested to have enough hours you can't collect it. Besides, they help find you another job. Just don't give up, keep putting in those applications and doing the follow-up calls. You can even call to see if they are still interviewing and ask to set up one for yourself. After the interview, send a card thanking them for their time. It's worked for me in times past.

You don't live in NY State do you? This state doesn't like to pay unemployment if you're fired or quit. I was fired. They like to only pay for unemployment if you're unemployed due to lack of work. Otherwise you have to fight. I know people who fought it and the back unemployment paid for legal fees. If you refuse work, you loose unemployment. I have never had them help me find work. 99% of the people I know have not found work through them. If you're lucky a Union contacts them because they need new workers, that's about your only shot at it. If you work temp service job for a few hours in a day, babysit, anything, you loose if for that day. If you work a certain number of hours, you loose it for the week. They make it difficult for you to get it. Then when you do, they give you a card that you can't get on your money on. It works at ATM machines that only allow $20 take outs at a time for the lowest amount. So you're stuck with $19 or less on the card until the next time that you can't use. Or you can spend it at Price Chopper who charges a dollar every time you use it there. So if you're on unemployment for 26 weeks, you pay them $26 just so you can use your last $19. They make it really, really hard for you. It may not be charity, but I know people on welfare who go through less. I went on it once, they kept trying to disqualify me. You have to show that you apply to many jobs per week and keep track on paper. Then if they call you in, you have to produce the paper and they call all those people. BIG BROTHER, no thanks. Also if you haven't applied to enough people they can take it away or threaten to take it away. They don't even tell you how many jobs that is, it depends on what your line of work is. On and on with the rules, they send you a multi-page book of rules plus recording sheets that you have to fill out for every single. With threats of if you work and don't report it or blah, blah, blah, you can be fined or inprisoned. They pay 50% of what you had before and act like you're robbing them blind. Employers pay unemployment insurance, but you would never know it, the state acts like you're stealing from them. If it's different in Florida, wonderful, but it rots in NY State.

You are correct, I don't live in NY and therefore have no idea how the state unemployment services work. Here in FL, if you quit your job I think you lose the weeks (or a certain amount of weeks) of compensation. You also have to be actively seeking employment, be able and available for work. They try to place you in a position making the same amount of you last job. You can go there daily and look on their computers (assistance is available for those who are not computer savvy). If you find something of interest, many times you are given a referral to go to the site to complete an application or interview. I hope you find something soon.I am floored that workers in NY have to go through so much to collect what SHOULD e theirs. Being fired or laid off....I'd fight it. Wishing you the best.

Oh, I forgot to comment on the ATM thing. Never heard of such here. Payments can be direct deposit or checks mailed. You can fill out biweekly information to confirm you looked for work online at home. How awful a system they have. If they have it, it was recently implemented.

In my town it is hard to get a job. So I have taken to writing all day on MyLot and Associatedcontent. At least they pay. It's better than sitting around doing nothing but moping. Keep doing things like mylotting during your search. I believe God will honour your efforts. But whatever you do, don't give up or become lazy. Jobs do not happen by osmosis.

I hope you find another job soon. I was wondering was this a temporary job, or did you work for a while and they found you did not work out? It is a shame that you cannot get a permanent job, but then it seems that companies just want someone for the short notice. And there are so many applicants and usually they want the best looking one if there is a decision between one or two. I had a hard time finding a job as well when I needed work. I do hope things open up for you pretty soon.

Hired me and I didn't work out. I was supposed to get people to buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff over the phone. But they hire 20 new people every few weeks and only keep the top sellers, so I didn't have the numbers monitarity to keep it going. Yes, it is a shame. I'm praying for a sign of what I should do. Different ideas are popping into my head. I'm starting to check them out. I have faith that things will work out. Thanks, I hope things open up for me soon, too.

Those places seldom have work where I live. But I do check the one or two that do survice our area, they mostly have construction and food service. Food service might be OK, but construction isn't. Take care
