all kinds of stuff. My husband bought tools for $31 and a couple of time life woodworking books for 50 cents each. I bought tank tops for 50cents each, a bread machine for $5 including the book, a dress and a coat for two dollars each. So have you been to any good garage sales lately? What did you buy?

I haven't found deals like that at garage sales - I think I must be looking in the wrong places.

Where I live, it ranges. Sometimes you can find great deals and sometimes you can't. Take care and thanks for responding.

Hello writersedge. A bread machine for $5, including the book? I'd say that's quite a bargain. Plus a dress and coat at $2 is really good also. No, I haven't been to any garage sales in awhile. About the only time I go these days is in someone in the neighborhood is having one and we are on a walk. We'll stop by just to say 'hi'. The last time I bought something was at a neighbor's house. I bought 2 green kitchen towels at 10 cents each. I still use those towels!

Yes, bread machines were all over the place! $20, $10, and then finally one for $5 with the book! I was going to buy the $20 one and my husband said, "Let's wait." I was a little upset by that, but he has a strange kind of ESP for this kind of thing, so I did wait. Glad I did. Two towels for 10 cents, and it sounds like they were good ones, is a good deal. I think the best deals are on back roads, they're just happy to have someone show up!Thanks and take care.

I haven't been to any garage sales, mostly I'm too broke, but between my car acting up and the price of gas, it isn't worth looking for them. I do slow down if I go by one, but haven't stopped.

I needed the tank tops, mine are rags. I needed a nice coat, too. My husband needs tools, I figure anything he makes will be cheaper than if we have to hire it made out. Bread machine, not sure we needed that, but with the roads all torn up, shopping of any type is becoming a chore here. Wish I had the money to buy more land, make my own wheat and have the stuff milled at the rate things are going. Thanks for the response and take care.

I haven't been to any garage sales this year, but I do go to a lot of thrift stores on my payday. Last couple of times I scored some very new lookng jeans for 2.50 a piece and a pair of Mudd shoes (had to polish them though) for $2 and my mom found a bunch of tees for a dollar each. I find a lot of medical scrubs that way for aorund $3 each....it's become my new shopping passion since I haven't shopped in years having to cut back for my budget to pay off debt... I love junking (that's what my friend calls it).

I bought lots of suits one year at a thrift store. This crazy job wanted all substitute teachers to wear suits. I felt like an idiot, the regular teachers weren't wearing them and were paid 4xs as much as me. Bought 4 suits for $100 when they would be that for 1 or maybe 2 not on sale and maybe 3 if on sale and cheaply made-if I was lucky and they had something in my size. We used to have a place called the Wearhouse. Loved it. All kinds of clothes in this huge place plus tableclothes, etc. We also have a Salvation Army Store, brought my brother there. He wanted 5 pairs of Jeans for $20 for work. He did it there. So your jeans for 2.50 at a thrift store were a really, realy good deal!

In our town there are a few neighborhoods that have annual garage sales. I mean like 75 houses all at the same time. We always go to these and buy stuff. Usually children's ride on toys or outdoor toys. Sometimes things like you mentioned. We don't often buy clothes from these places though. You can find brand new stuff on clearance for the prices they want on used stuff.

Yes, we have the townwide garage sales, too. Aren't they great? The one we went to this past weekend was one. One one road, every other house had a sale, it was great! Park your car one spot and walk 1/2 a mile, at least 10 sales. I can't find tank tops for 50 cents or dresses or coats for $2. So I bought them. If I was smaller, I could have bought designer clothes, entire suits or dress and jacket sets for $5. Wish I was the size I used to be. Thanks and take care

Sounds like you got some good bargains. I haven't been to any garage sales in years. Our kids do go and buy all kinds of things. One daughter loves to buy used furniture that's in good condition and the other two daughters enjoy buying baby clothes. Recently our oldest daughter got a really good buy on a couch and a computer desk from an estate sale.
