Have you ever received spam emails from a person using your own email address.

Is it really possible that someone can have the exact yahoo email address as you? If so I think that I might need to change my email address to something else.Today I got a spam email from myself with an attachment. I did not open it because it might be a virus. I hope that none of my friends is getting this email because it's not coming from me. It's someone using my email. I also remember a long time ago people were emailing me in my hotmail account asking me to stop emailing them and I replied that it was not me.

No its not; because when you sign up for a yahoo email account they automatically check to make sure no one else is using that address. But someone could be using email address and password. I don't know how they do it, but there are way they can.

I hope not. I will just change my password once a week to prevent that from happening. I don't see why anyone would want to read my boring emails. While they can easily sign up for their own email address for free.

Yeah I did. It was very annoying. It was my email address with my friend's name.

I contacted yahoo and they sent me this link. They said someone may have been spoofing. http://antispam.yahoo.com/

I get mail from myself a lot. I just delete it, but I cannot change my yahoo email address because it is also my Paypal email address, and since I am Canadian, I would have to use the Canadian Yahoo and I do not want to do that. I mean I would get less legitimate mail from the honest businesses. I do not have a hotmail address, but I would say no matter what the spammer is, if they just show all headings, they would see it is not from you. So you do not have to worry.

With your hotmail account it could have been that when your friends were telling you that you are e-mailing them when you were not, that they may have been a virus in your computer sending out e-mails to everyone in your address book. I too have made a mistake of opening an attachment, but that was a long time ago when I first came on line with my computer.

It is possible to send such mails if you have an smtp server. Even there are services like deadfake.com which offers free spoofing mails. You will be easily able to send such fake mails. Check it out...

I don't know how they do that, but once in awhile I will get mail from myself at both Yahoo and Excite mails. It is just spam, as you say, and I don't think mail like that ever went to anyone else but me. None of my friends ever asked about it anyways. You were wise not to open it.
