How do you make links clickable in discussions and comments?

I thought mine were coming out that way, but just checked a discussion I had commented on and it did not appear that way.
Can someone please offer the code or link to click to make the links we post in our discussions and comments clickable?
I appreciate any insights into achieving this.

I think that one reason why a link might not work is that it gets broken because it has too many characters. That's why I use Tiny URL when I think about it. I'm going to do their url both ways (with and without the ach-tee-tee-pee) and see if they both come out:
http://www.tinyurl.com
www.tinyurl.com
Once you get there, create a tiny url per instructions. You will be simply amazed!

Use the 'http://' as part of your link, for ease until you get used to doing it, you can look at the URL as it appears in your browser address bar, cut and paste this or type it letter for letter.
For me to put my websites into a post I can just write them as follows:
http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk
http://livewyre.blogspot.com
some browsers are happy with EITHER the 'www.' or 'http://', but when posting to a forum, it makes sense to get into the habit of posting the complete URL for people who are using different browsers
