Jeepneys

[b][i]Hello my fellow Pinoys. As we all know that jeeps/jeepneys is one of the means of transportation here in our country. Yesterday, I went to a mall to have our documents for my husbands' permanent residency application for Canada and took a jeepney ride going there. I was really annoyed. The jeep is not fully loaded with passengers. I think we are just 4 or 5 passengers. Then a man hitched. He looked at the back, I thought he was going to ride then guess what he rode infront even if there's someone sitting besides the driver. It wasn't the first time that I've seen this kind of situation. It happens all the time. It made me to think, why do some people wanted to be sitting in front while there's still room in the back? Well, just wondering. How about you? Have you seen like this? When riding a jeepney, where would you like to sit? In front or at the back? I like to be in the back because I want to catch some air specially when it's hot. How about you? HUGZ!

For me,I don't want to take the front seat. It gives me a hard time to get in. I would only take this seat if im on a rush and a long wait for the next jeepney. It is much comfortable having the back seat since it is more spacious. You can move freely that is if you picked a jeepney not loaded with passengers.

Good day!..
Personally, I prefer myself to be seated in the front whenever I ride jeepneys or even taxis. It's kinda uncomfy sitting at the back when there are so many passengers compressed together looking like sardines inside a can.lolz. The only thing I like about sitting in the back is that I get to see and observe different kinds of people inside the jeepney. Some look anxious(probably coz they're late) while some look sleepy.lol. And also back when I was still a student, I get to cram for the exams by studying the lessons inside the jeep.=)

Oh yes. When you sit in the back you get to see who's sleepy and you can see different reactions and facial expressions of the passengers. As for me, I don't usually ride with loaded jeepneys. I prefer to wait for the next so I can have enough space.

[i]I always love to sit in front...LOL! It will disappoint me when someone will get it first! but, when it has 2 people there, I will not also force myself...What I hate inside or at the back is that some people will just smoke and will not respect other passengers and it will make me sick!
But, oftentimes, I am always at the back...I also enjoy observing people and chatting to others![/i]

well my best, i am one that loves to sit in the front, beside the driver. i don't know what keeps me with that habit. i guess one reason for this, for me, is that i can see a clearer view of the road, where the jeepney is going. i also love to have a clear view of the surroundings.

hi there. the thing that i don't like riding the jeepney are people smoking. i can't stand smoke but it's really expensive to ride a taxi or cab going to places... so it's jeepneys and walking for me these days... LOL

Hi im a pinoy. Maybe that man is used to sitting in front of the jeepney beside the driver. have you noticed how do the other passenger (the first one beside the driver)looks? Maybe he want to sit beside her/him, lol. Personally, In some cases I want to sit beside the driver too specially if I am first timer to go to a certain place. I want to see a clearer view of the site or road. I want to be familiarized so that next time I can ride at the back and will not be mistaken where I will make "PARA". But most of the times, I want to sit at the back especially when it is not that full. want a comfortable seat. I want air.

I don't like sitting in front of a jeepney because it's so hot. My legs always ends up sweating, I guess because it's closer to the engines? And if you're in the middle of the front seat, there is no breeze so it makes it worse. Plus there's not much leg room. So I always ride at the back. The only problem at the back is you'll be facing a lot of people and you'd get a stiff neck trying to look out.

hi there.. i usually ride tricycles going to work and back home. i find jeepneys these days very crammed and difficult and the waiting time is too much since they will be literally stopping by each corner for passengers. i would end up late for work if i ride the jeepney. i would just ride the jeepney if it's during the weekdends when i am not rushed... LOL... and i do so, i would ride at the back... i dont like sitting in front and where i lived, it's not as bad as you described it so it's okay to seat at the back. LOL

if there is no one sitting in front or if a girl is also sitting there i sit there beside the driver but the usual is at the back because i do not want guys to sit with me in front and i do want want being "sandwiched" between two guys..hehehe i just feel uncomfortable sitting too close to a guy.

Hi dhangski,
How are you? hope everything is going well with your plans for the future? well we don't have a Jeepneys, what we got as way of pulbic transport is called buses and I normally sit in front or the in the middle so as I could get off the bus easily when it comes to my destination and we don't have many hot weather here in the U.K.

I dont know for no particular reason i always find myself also sitting in the fron . I dont know why . Maybe because you could see everything because your in front but maybe it is more than that i dont know .

thats common i guess ..since im too likes to sit front..if ever i will go out without my husband...i guess i like the feeling to be alone in that spot no eyes staring at you or whatever..and i dont like my hair be blown away with the wind(its the reverse for you i guess)and the dust as well..

maybe the hitchhiker knew the driver and he wanted a chitchat so he sat beside the driver. but most guys really prefer the seat beside the driver. its more comfortable there. since you're sitting forwards and not sidewards. but i prefer to sit at the back too. its not too crowded and the space is bigger.

I have seen the jeepneys on tv, and basically it's just like a bus, except that it's smaller, faster and more comfortable than buses too.. hehe =D MAYbe those whom wanna sit at the front beside the driver are more safety conscious, as they can see what coming in front..
And when one is sitting at the back, we cant really see the front as it's blocked.. hehe.. I personally will prefer to sit at the back too because it's more brezzy and cooling though the fumes from cars are bad.. hehe

I always take the back side and must be in the middle part. The front part is very risky because during accidents those who are at the front die first, is it not. That is according to survey and the next one who is the one sitting at the back of the driver. That is according to a survey I read before. The one sitting at the last seat at the back is also prone to be hit first once the jeepney got bumped by another car in the back side. So the safest place is the middle part. yes that is true that most passenger wanted to seat beside of the driver maybe so that they can go down as faster as they can or they will never take a hand for the fare of other passenger riding in that vehicle,or maybe its more safe when you seat beside of the driver.
