Dubbing English cartoons?

yeah me too, i don't think dubbing the cartoons in Tagalog is bad. It actually helps them understand the cartoons better. Look at anime shows being shown in Spain and Germany they dub them in local languages for them to better understand the cartoons. Do you remember Hunter X Hunter? If you are an anime watcher/fan, Hunter X Hunter became popular at that time because of the excellent dubbing and use of our language. That's one of the best dubbed animes ever in my opinion. I don't think we should be bothered about this so much because almost everything we watch on cable is in English, most TV shows are in English, our major newspapers are in English, English is taught in school from grade school to college so i don't think you should be concerned that much about cartoons being dubbed in English.

It really is not helping the future of our country when children fail to learn basic english while at a young age. TV does help in the education process especially in learning english but when even cartoons are dubbed in tagalog how can a child learn? Also noticed that there are only a few educational shows catering to children....

I don't see anything wrong in dubbing those English cartoons to Filipino. Besides, children have other means to learn English not just on TV. In my opinion, my children have to learn our native language first before jumping to learn other foreign language. Filipino first.

Agree. And another one that paves the Filipino to dumb-nation is the texting or short-messaging(sms). Wrong spelling, bad grammar, non-sense texting etc. I love my profession or job as a translator but I don't think TV shows for children like these that you mentioned shall be dubbed in Tagalog. They, too dubbed the Latin TV soap operas that prevented me from watching blocktimer shows from the local tv. I am a subscriber of a cable connection because I do not want my daughter to watch Tagalog dubbed cartoon shows that she love watching and I also hate the dramas. Since TV is the best learning tool for young children, I felt bad that our TV networks in the Philippines are making irresponsibility in their roles to our public viewers.
