I'm using Firefox's latest version that is 3.01 for Windows. Whenever I download a file, be it .mp3,.rar or whatever, it automatically scans the file for viruses. I want to know how efficient it is in scanning the files? What guarantee it gives that no files downloaded will be actually affected?

I know that a stand-alone version of anti-virus is always better than a mere feature in programmes where the main focus is on something else. I wanted to know about the efficiency of Firefox's virus scanning. Anyway, never mind. I'm just using AVG Free and I don't want to rely solely on the virus scanning feature of Firefox to keep me safe. It helps to be paranoid when on the internet. Right? :)
