How superstitious are?

I used to be quite superstitious until about 8 years ago, never walking under ladders, never passing someone on the stairs and as for magpies, yep those too. It all changed when I was pregnant with my first child. I had asked my husband to choose some names for the baby and we could decide from those names which one we liked. He had written a huge list of names but only for girls. So we chose one from the list together and decided to think of boys names later. Then I was doing some filing at work and the same name popped out at me on the front of a clients file. Then a women at work took my wedding ring and told me to lie down while she suspended my ring on a piece of string over my stomache telling me that as the ring swung around in a circle it was going to be a girl. I was then walking down the street and saw 3 magpies together and according to the ryhme that would make, one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl. A month or so later I gave birth to, yes you've guessed it a baby boy. Needless to say I am no longer superstitious but I still don't put any shoes on a table, be them new or old, because that's just not right to do that. What superstitions do you have? Do you think something has happened because you broke a superstition?

There are all sorts of superstition in my hometown like not going to your destination when a black cat crosses your path or not sweeping the floor at night because you will run out of luck, etc. This is more of tradition passed from generation to generation.I guess with the passage of time we lost all these superstitious beliefs.I grew up with a practical mom who never believed in any of these things so we would always have a funny retort or a rationalization when people try to prevent us from doing what we normally do because of what they grew accustomed to.Also, I've received all sorts of chain letters,e-mails,texts claiming something bad would happen if I delete them or don't pass them to other people.I deleted them all without forwarding and I'm alive and kicking up to now...LOL

i dont believe in being a superstitious person particularly because it gave rise to misconception in one's mind .but if someone believe it is totally his idea of giving things sense in accordance to his ability to get things as they happen or occur to him.On the other note i do say superstitions are sometimes due to lack of knowledge too.As you have no idea about that event or you dont know from its depth point of occurrence so thats why it turn into superstitions.

I am not superstitious. Haha, However, sometimes, it never rains but it pours. Also, why misfortunes never come singly? Oh the other hand, when u r lucky, u will keep lucky for days. This is really weird. Anyway, I don't just believe these ideas or something. We handle our lot in our hands.

Hello the hiddenwing I don't think luck has got anything to do with superstition really. Like I don't carry a rabbits foot around with me for good luck but if I won some money on the lottery I would say I was lucky! Thank you for responding

I am not superstitious at all I just think people create something like this for a reason. Latins have the tendency of creating superstitions but I never saw that in USA. I had many black cats, never a ladder stopped me, I do not need to cross fingers because I do not believe in destiny, I think you make your own. I love Fridays the 13ths, LOL, I put my purse on the floor and do not loose money. I just know for fact is a reason behind all this that people create.

hhmm.. not that much. but I considered some superstitions. like if you dreamed that you lost a tooth, someone you know will going to die. I don't know if it's just an accident but it already happened to me so many times. of course, we are the one who's making our destiny, we shouldn't let those superstitions lead us.

Hey saivenkaat802003 When you start to realise that, that 5% makes no difference to your life at all I think it will disappear and you will be able to say you are 100% not superstitious, what do you think? thanks for your response!

i've never been really superstitious. the number 13 however, used to make me a little uneasy, i think just because it's been drilled into our heads so much like buildings not having a 13th floor, friday the 13th, etc. well now i consider 13 a lucky number . i didn't know that putting shoes on a table had anything to do with superstition. to me that's just gross!

Hi there aidenw My mum was born on the 13th of March and that occassionally happens on a friday but she still manages to have a good time! I think the superstition is not to put new shoes on a table but I don't know if that would be still in the box or bag or what. Thank you for responding!
