Swimming is a great exercise that is low impact and can be a lifelong way to stay in shape. However, if a person just jumps in the pool, and starts splashing around they will quickly lose interest in the sport of swimming. A training regimen is required to benefit the most from the activity.Have you tried training?

i was on the swim team for 3 years and my shoulders are not bulky or nasty. my legs turned out really nice and toned also my stomach was always in shape. It mainly targetted my legs. It also depends what stroke you mainly swim. I was a freestyler so my shoulders were never dat strong .

I really love swimming in a warm pool or in the ocean if the waves are calm. In a pool I can do a few lengths but in the sea when I am snorkeling I can go for ages looking at all the colorful coral and friendly fish. I have a toddler and when I go to the pool I have him in a swim seat or in a rubber ring. I can't train if I have him to keep and eye on. My swimming is quite slow but I have quite a lot of stamina.
