Making a child drink water.....

Once a doctor told me that children need 17 times more water or fluid, as compared to grown up people. But my 3 years old daughter does not like drinking water. I cannot give her juice and milk most of the time, since that would kill her appetite and she would not take solid food. So water is the best option. Can anyone suggest the ways to make a child drink more water?

I'm 27 years old and I don't even drink water. What about flavored water? I've been buying aquafina flavor splash for me so that I can drink more water. I have 3 kids, 5, 3 and 1. my 5 and 3 year old have been drinking it too. If I just give them the bottle they will drink the whole thing in a matter of an hour or so. The only way I can drink plain water is if it is really cold. So if you don't feel comfortable giving her flavored water you could try putting ice in her cup. My kids think its so cool to have ice in their cup too.

I have found the same problem with my children. I have found that if i give my children, which are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2, in a sports bottle they will dink the water rather than in their sippy cups or regular cups. I definately is a big challege expecially when they are so used to drinking juice and liquids that have flavor. Hope you find something that works....

Thanks for your response. I am a bit afraid to put ice, since its cold most of the time in Germany. I feel she may get a sore throat. I will try during the hot days.

You can try the flavored water and that might do the trick. You can also dilute her juice by like 80% and normally just a hint of color or flavor will entice them to drink it. It could be that if you are giving tap water she may not like the taste. I know that in some places that I have traveled that it is a noticable difference in the taste and most of the places that I go, I don't like the taste. I am more likely to drink tap or filtered water but when traveling I will absolutely drink bottled water.

Drinking water is so important for out health. It cleans the blood of impurities and other impurities from our bodies. It also rehydrate our cells. If the other suggestions don't work try putting some food coloring in the water. or maybe just a sprinkling of kool ade to give it just a hint of flavor..
