Will you smile at a stranger?

When you are new somewhere, have you ever received big smiles from strangers? Or have you ever smiled at strangers to show your friendliness? Smiling is an easy job but can sometimes be so hard as only to pull a long face at some situation. I always smile at strangers whenever embarrassed and a big smile can always make things easy. What about you? Can you share your points with us?

No I wont, smiling to a totally strangers can feed him a malicious thought to strangers, either he will assume that you're an easy girl or even pick up girl and worst thing it may lead you to made them harass you, also as a woman i dont want men to think that i am showing them motives by smiling, why not be casual if somebody want to befirend you they may come and approach you in nice way. For me smiling to a totally stranger isn't normal.

Yes, what you worry about is reasonable. Then smile to greet in some party or company or what, will you?
haha, thank you anyway.

I smile to cute girls, just quick eye contact, and small, cocky smile. It's worked well for me in the past. So I will keep doing it. If they smile back then game on...

Nowadays, it is hard to give our trust especially to strangers. We should also choose persons whom to give our smile with. If you think that the person is trustworthy why not share a big one. It is better to keep yourself an extra care especially with a lot of crimes being committed. We might be misled with their killer smiles. Hehehe

Yes, we cannot be too careful about evil strangers while I think, smiles won't go bad anytime anywhere, even for those bad guys.

I always try to smile no matter what.My teachers at school were always asking me why im always so happy..lol but seriously a smile changes everything. It can change the mood of a stranger whos having a really bad day.And it can make people look stupid when theyr being rude to you and you just smile :]

I have only just begun using my smile and its feels awkward a lot of the times but I do it, my boyfriend will say hi to strangers when passing them or the neighbors coming out the door and it really made me think what I can do to greet complete strangers so now I smile when passing people in the street--people have done the same to me so it cant be that far-fetched. I remember back in high school how I used to be all smiley and would greet any stranger off the street and I made a lot of friends that way but It is interesting wondering why that has changed but I am practicing the habit of small talk again, catching people in the grocery lines is not to invasive.

I always smile because that's just who I am. I enjoy smiling because it says a lot about me. I am happy, joyful, and pleased with who I am. I think that smiling can sometime brighten someone's day. We have to understand that we only live once--why not live life to the fullest and to the best of your ability to do so. Enjoy life and all that it has to offer or not!

I smile most of the time to people, lots of times to cute girls. Lots of times because I embarrass myself. Or sometimes I give an evil smirk, just to make people think something is up haha.

Smiling is one of the best way to ease tension in any situation. I sometimes say "hi" or "hello" with a smile and get positive reactions from them. Anyway, its better to see a smiling face than a frowning one, don't you think?

yes, i always smile to everyone not only strangers.
i feel really comfortable when i see people smile to me,
so i think, if i show a big smile to them, they will have the same feeling with me.
on the contrary, when people make a long face to me, it will make me upset.
when exchange the position on me and the other people,i choose smile to them.

well i guess depending on the situation..not all strangers need to be smiled at i think..youll never know what they can do to you in the long run..i had this experienced im new in the neighborhood since i just moved in..and i was standing in my driveway when a neighbor just passed by(well i know she is our neighbor)that i readily smiled at her and even greet her ..and its a good feeling to be reciprocated by this gestures...

I like daring myself to smile at people as I pass by and I'm almost always rewarded witha smile in return. In SW albuquerque people - especialy the older people just look at you suspiciously. Someimes it depends on how confident I'm feeling.
I think it brightens other's days as do compliments and asking after them - and remembering their name!

I always try to smile at people I pass in the street or in a store. I've always done that. Sometimes I will say "hello," too. Sometimes they will acknowledge the smile, sometimes they won't. The town I grew up in was very friendly. Just about everyone spoke to each other when passing.
My daughter moved away to a town about 80 miles from here. I went up there to visit and found that if you smiled at people, most would just stare at you! If you opened a door for someone (like going in a business), they would not say "thank you." I am so glad she doesn't live there anymore. What a place! It was like everyone there was suspicious. lol I did meet a few people who were friendly, but most of them were not "from" that town. I definitely would not want to live there!

I smile at strangers every day, as it is part of my job. I am a breakfast attendant at a local hotel, and part of my job is to smile and be friendly with the guests. I am always talking to them, and have made a few really good friends with some of the guests who stay there on a regular basis.

i probobly dont smile at strangers but yes, i have been smiling at some of the strangers, even i dont know why but sometimes i feel quite disturbed by such things. i am not used to do this thing but yes sometimes gives me a smile and so do i in this condition it is well and cool but if someone laughs it disturbs me a lot and makes me feel as if i am some sought of artoon standing in front of him /her.
i do not feel shy at all if i give strangers a smile. infavt it makes me feel good. and if someone lagush at me(has never happened) but if happens i would give him a real tight salp on his fact and make sure that he never does it with anyone else......

I am a big believer is spreading your happiness. They say that smiles are contagious. I believe that a smile does go a long way and if someone is having a bad day a smile may be just the thing they need to feel like there is something good in the world. You hear stories all the time about how someone is having a bad day and someone shows an act of kindness and then all of a sudden they feel that the world is not as bad as they thought. I know it sounds silly, but it really does work. Unfortunately, now-a-days you smile at someone and they look at you like you're crazy because they don't see it often. But I still do my thing.
