is friend in need a friend in deed?????

can any one of you say what is the meaning of above question.how to choose a genuine friend.

It is sometimes suggested that this phrase means 'someone who needs your help becomes friendly in order to obtain it'. or someone who comes to your aid when you're in difficulty is a true friend. the person is in need of help then they would go to their closest friend. this is the person they would trust with their life. shows that this is a true sign of friend ship so a "friend in deed"
