I have a friend who lies all the time. I'm always catching her in lies but she comes up with something else to get herself out of it. For instance she would tell me she was going on a boat trip with a few other people. So I find out she canceled she said she had a family illness. So when I asked her how was the boat trip she said it was canceled so I didn't go. It's like why couldn't she tell me the truth. If she didn't want to go on the boat trip with these other people I wouldn't have cared. All I want is the truth but she seems to just lie all the time and over little things. I don't understand why people feel the need to lie. So should I just confront her about it or leave it alone?

I would like to say that you confront her. But before I say so. If this would happen with me, I would try to find out if I confront her, would be helpful at all? That is, how is your relationship with that friend is important. Does she accept you as dependable friend? If so, then a confrontation may help her. Otherwise, it'll not.
In that case, you may tell her in a friendly manner that you understand she telling a lie. And purposively deny her any genuine excuse by saying that (again jokingly) she's a lier. may be that will help her to realise that it is not wise to lie all the time.
Also, you ignore her after informing her about the cause.

Thanks Tap for the advice. I tried that but she tried to lie her way out. lol. Ah well. I'm just not going to believe her all the time and leave it alone or just end our friendship one day. I'm tired of her lying

I think your right. I guess I should confront her but knowing her, lol she will lie again, lol. It's sad when people are so good at it and don't realize it. I will call her on and it and see what happens. She is so good at it, it gets to the point where your like okay what is she going to lie about now, lol
