I just got this letter...

from my gynocologist. I had my annual check-up and I thought everything was fine and then I got this letter. The letter says I have to make an appointment to have a colscopy. Apparently my pap smear was abnormal, but the letter stated that there was no evidence of cancer. I'm asking all the women here if this ever happened to you and what did you do about it? How did you feel? What was the outcome? I'm a little scared, but I think that if there was something very serious my doctor would have actually called me first.

I have had a colscopy done, it really is not as bad as it sounds. Not to scare you but when they did mine the did find out that I had cervix cancer. it was treated with laser surgery. after the laser surgery was done they were not able to find the cancer any more and that was 15 years ago. Best luck to you

I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through that, but it was a really good thing that it was caught. I am so thankful for a cautious doctor and for having the foresight to keep on top of my health. I'm a litte nervous, but I've always had regular check ups so I don't think they will find anything bad. I think my doctor is just being cautious and I appreciate that. Thanks for sharing though.

It's probably just a precautionary measure to make sure everything is ok. Try not to worrry too much. I've had friends that had to go through the same procedure each time they got a pap smear. It's better to check it and catch anything early if there is anything, than to wait. Good luck.

I'm a lot calmer today than I was yesterday. I was really freaked out when I got the letter, but I've talked to several friends today who have been through the same thing more than once and every time, things turned out to be perfectly normal. Thanks for the reassurance. I really appreciate it.
