Is everyone can catch every word exactly when the professors say or speak?

Well, I'm very glad to listen your personal experience. When the professor in universities ,colleges, and even high schools talk something to you, have you paid attention to the problem concerning catching every word--one by one-when professors start to speak? I am a student learning english as a foreign lauguage. And what I found in my study is listening, which is required and plays a big role in the TOEFL test. As my teacher has told me the only way to imporve the listening is dictation, one sentence by one sentence. And it works. But the new problem appeared, the liasion often confused me. Sometimes it is the essential reason why I can't understand the meanings of listening material. Well, I also would like to receive your reponse that how often the lision appears in you speaking and is it really that more lisions,more fluence?
