All religions are flawed

and yet all of them contain a perspective of a possible truth, at less that is my perspective. Perhaps it is not possible for humans to fully understand that is which divine, hence we attempt to piece together what we can comprehend, and pass this wisdom down in the form of religion. It doesn't mean that religions are wrong, in fact, it makes them all invaluable as resources for us to understand that which we hold divine. The problem always seem to come when someone declares a view as the one and only truth. To folks like that, I can only ask "Does that mean you know the last name of God/dess?" Then again, I am wrong too, after all, this is only one perspective :)

But what if God comes and reveals himself? If we try to speculate there can be all sorts of error, but if God reveals through a man or something like that so that he gives to us what we need to know then it's possible to know correctly what has been revealed. That does not mean that all is known, what is actually known is what is revealed. I think that is one way of saying about things. Many religions considered themselves to be truly revealed by God. They don't think it's the result of human speculation.

But what if God chooses to reveal to anyone who does not even meditate. Once we say that it's only to those who meditate then it's putting a limit to God. Because God is sovereign and he can reveal to anyone he chooses. That does not mean God exists, but I am saying that once a person holds on to such a kind of God then it's possible for revelation.

Since time immemorial, people have searched for God and the divine. That is why people will always worship even in the absence of formal established religion. Man feels the emptiness that can only be filled with the divine. As a Catholic, I may argue that our religion is not flawed because that is what I actually believe. However, there are explanations for our beliefs too. But one thing that I cannot really explain is the FAITH. I just believe that it is not flawed because it comes directly from Christ and what could be more perfect with the Holy Spirit guiding us. But I also have an open mind because I don't necessary believe that other religions are wrong. We may differ in our practices or in our religion but we are all searching for a Divine Being or God. It's like going to the mall, some of us make take the bus or use our cars, or the motorcycle. Different ways of going to the mall and all would arrive at the mall. All of us are searching for God and we have different ways of searching but we are still looking for the same God and hopefully we will all find God.

That's pretty much what I think, Sca! We don't have the whole picture, and really no one can get the whole picture because they're not everyone, and in the end our understanding is flawed. Ah, what a wonderful thing it is to be human, lmao. "Everyone's right and everyone's wrong. On what, who can say?"

Yeah, all religions are indeed flawed in their own ways.. NObody can be certain in everything because there's nobody who has been thru everything in life to understand everything.. What most decipher, is only upon experience and predict what will happen.. After all, we control our own destiny ^_^ BUt no matter what, we should still respect all religions as they are unique in their own ways to have followers believing in them ^_^

exactly. it's all too huge for anyone to ever think they've got it all figured out. I'm comfortable with my relationship with the Divine, and with the Gods, but I know they are far far bigger than I could ever hope to grasp. so I'll make do with the part of it that I can get my head round.

Religions are not flawed so much as people are flawed. A religion may be written with grace and beauty, but then it may be interpreted less so by the folks following it. Each person reads and sees things differently. It is what makes life exciting. Though sometimes we could stand a little less excitement. Shalom~Adoniah

All religions are flawed because the human desire to believe in supernatural powers came from a time in our evolution where we were subject to powerful forces of nature that we could not control or understand. We developed a belief in gods and a method to influence these gods by prayer and sacrifice so they would stop drought and floods and any other natural catastrophe. As this did not work all the time the idea was developed that sinful people in the community were responsible for angering the gods and being the cause of whatever disaster befell the people. These sinners would be killed or thrown out of the community. Now that we have developed the scientific method to explain all the disasters that happen like earthquakes, hurricanes etc. we no longer have the need for gods and no need to persecute people who cannot or will not obey a set of rules developed in the bronze age.
