i have started my training in Calamba Medical Center last Wednesday August 13 although i have hospital experience before we were just allowed to do an observation on our first day..2nd day we had handled patients to take their vital signs and accompany the charge nurses in doing their usual routine then yesterday my patient who had a vehicular accident was ordered to be removed from her urinary catheter it is a tube inserted in the urinary meautus to catch the urine flow and direct it to the bag..she was operated so she can't stand up that is why she was put into a catheter so then after the order i was the one to removed the catheter she was scared because she thought it will be painful removing it i said to her that if it hurts she can pull my hair.. then after i had pulled it off my co nurse asked my patient if she will pull my hair for her then she just smiled and said no then she had asked me to be the one to remove her Intravenous fluid too when ordered..^_^ she had liked me..i am flattered..

That's great! You must be very good at removing catheter.I've got three c-section delivery and all was painful when they removed the catheter-i never liked those nurses after that situation-even inserting iv's-they get x-mark from me.Keep it up,patients feel good and safe when there's one among the nurses that can deal with and trust.
