hello...my husband and i married in a civil wedding ceremony...we plan on having a church wedding when our savings is enough.
although my parents wanted a church wedding,we opt for a civil wedding because we don't want our parents to pay for it.we want to really be the one who pays for it.
what is your opinion on civil and church wedding?which do you prefer?

Most of the girls would love to be wed in the church and I was one of them but unfortunately it wasn't able to happen due to the same reasons as you have. The ceremony was something simple though I still treasure it cause it was one of the special days of my life. For me, civil or church it doesn't matter anymore. as we all know many couples went to separation and divorce so what's important is the purpose of the ceremony and the intentions of making that ceremony really work until the last breath of our life.

I would never have a church wedding, as it would be like making my vows to Santa.
if you swear an oath to something you don't beleive in, then it's not a true and binding oath.
I am having a religious ceremony before my own Gods, followed by a civil ceremony for the legalities.

hi melcah....i know of a couple that were married before a judge and a year or so later regretted it and had a church wedding. you need to go by what you feel deep down. sometimes at the moment you may not be thinking real clear. in your situation you can still have a church wedding. the most important thing is that you did get married.

I admire you for not leaning on your parents for everything! Do what you feel is best. I know it's hard not pleasing your parents, but this is the beginning of YOUR marriage and you don't want to start off in a lot of debt. I'm sure they love you and will understand.
