I am Chinese.
Most of Chinese like American so far as I am concerned. Thus, we hope that they like us in a same way. At least, they don't hate Chinese.
However, I found that some American hate Chinese. It is sad, really!
We misunderstand each other since we don't really know each other. It is not enough to know people just by watching television. Sometimes, TV drama can't reflect real life. For example, I have watched lots of American dramas including prison break, heros, lost, Grey's Anatomy. Do u think people live a same we as the dramas betrayed?
My American teacher was very kind. Haha, at least he is not like guys in gossip girls. He didn't mind take extra time to help my classmates. According to his kindness, I knew some American was very kind. Long after he went back to the united states, people here missed that kind teacher.
U really don't know what kind of people they really are until u know them by yourself.
I hope u don't hate Chinese.

Hate and love have no boundary, I guess. I hated one of my teacher since she was so strict that I couldn't stand it. However, later, I knew he was not that awful. Yesterday is history. Japan and China have history problem, I have to admit that. However, hatred will only lead people to misfortune rather than happiness. I love both Japanese and Chinese. My grandpa is Japanese. I am Chinese, However. Thus, I hope people will love each other in each country.
Best wishes!

I don't hate any culture or peoples. I do like the Chinese culture and I would love to go to China some day. I have been watchng the Olympics every day and I think the Chinese atheletes are very dedicated and strong. I feel sorry for them when they lose though as I know the government is communist and will be very hard on them. I don't like communism and I am sure the chinese people would prefer a democracy too. It's too bad they have to live like that. Alot of chinese have moved here and are very happy with their new found freedoms. I hope that some day China will be free. Peace and freedom for china!

It's good to hear you are enjoying your life in China. China has such beauty, but it's terribly polluted with smog. How do you deal with the smog there? I'm amazed at how good China's athletes are doing in the Olympics...they must train very hard. Good luck to them and all who are in the contests. It must be such an honor to win the gold!

Thanks for your kindness. In fact, populace in China live a very happy life now. Also, free will make us able to choose our way of life. In the past, people suffered from a restrictive condition especially the Mao zedong time. However, now We can do anything we want except committing a crime, haha. We can go anywhere we want, too. Meanwhile, If I say I hate China, it is not a big deal, I won't be put into jail. China has changed a lot though most people don't know the change. About the earthquake thing, my friends had waited in line for a whole day so as to donate their A-type blood that was in need. Lots of elementary school students wanted to donate their blood. However, they are not allowed since they are so young. In order to save some students, lots of teachers lost their lives.
Believe it or not, I still appreciate your comment so much!
Have a good luck everyday!

No, I don't hate the Chinese. I went to San Francisco and had an enjoyable look around China Town there. I really love to travel and so far I have been to Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong. I hope to go to China one day, the people are friendly and it has an interesting culture. I respect other people's differences and traditions. I would love to adopt a little orphan girl from China one day. I think that the officials that knocked down people's homes to make a scene for the Olympics were unkind.

Hidden Wing I am so sorry that earthquakes have happened in China. Natural disasters like that are terrible and I feel sorry for all the people that have been affected. Good luck to them.
Love United it is interesting that people guess you are Chinese. When I was in Australia my accent changed and people thought that I was from there. That was very amusing indeed and I liked the complement. When I was in Malaysia people thought a couple were locals but they were in fact South Africans.

I really appreciate it. Yeah, Chinese culture is profound and intensive. Also, u may know that the earthquake destoryed lots of family in wenchuan of China. My friends and I donate some money. Also, B-blood was in need. Meanwhile, all my friends with B-type blood donate their blood. My friends have to wait in line to doante their blood since there were so many people there. The scence was very moving. I cried several times for the people who suffered from earthquake.
Thus, there are kind people in every country!

I am from Nepal, and the first thing every new person asks me on the first meeting is "Are you Chinese?". Interestingly, I resemble Chinese a lot, however, I don't have any connection to them at all. Even the Chinese gets confused when they see me and often speaks with me in Chinese. They really get surprised when I say I am not Chinese.
The reason behind telling all this thing is that I don't hate Chinese at all. In fact, they are very good and polite. But I've found them to be happy within their own community and don't want to make friends in diversed population. I made handful of Chinese friends, and want to make more. ( I am in Cyprus).

There's absolutely no reason for me to hate Chinese people. First of all, I don't know China's culture and the lifestyle of every Chinese citizens. I believe that you cannot hate something that you have no idea what to hate from it. And being a Christian, I try not to hate other people. As what Jesus said, love one another - even your enemies.

I don't have too much problems with the Chinese. I'm from Singapore and I'm an ethnic Malay and Chinese constitutes the majority in our country so I might as well learn to live with them. I got a number good Chinese friends around. I like Chinese food especially the noodles. The only problem I have with Chinese is not with the local ones but those who came from mainland to Singapore as permanent residents. It irritates me when you come from another country and treat our country like as if they own it. And sometimes they act with arrogance which if not controlled, could produce anger and hatred towards the "foreign talents". And also irritates me that majority can't speak English. I went to a shop to buy some drinks and this lady spoke to me in Chinese instead of English. Hello! I'm a Malay! At least use a common language that I can understand. She gave me the arrogant look that I don't understand Chinese language which really irritated me back then. So I don't hate Chinese. Its just they way they(referring to those from mainland China) bring themselves could just create tensions around.

I am sure you are not alone in feeling that way.
It is especially irritating when you know that you are being replaced by some one from the mainland to do the same job at the same pay!
And the worst part of it is, they call them foreign talent!
Well, replacing a local who did the job, is that local not a talent then?
What makes them so special?
I mean, not all of them are bad. I have many mainland colleagues too. But all it takes is just one joker to spoil it all!

I don't know some Chinese are aggogant in singapore. It is sad. Also, it is really their mistake. How could they treat u like that way. This is provoking. I hope some Chinese won't do that.
I am really sorry for their bad behaviors. They show a lack of education.
Something is not go to the effort that was required.
Just as an old saying goes, there are all kinds of fish in the sea.
I hope u won't be that angry since u r more knowledgable!
Sincerely!

Nop, i really don't. Maybe there are some language barrier involved or some cultural differences. I guess its really not right to generalize all races when we see someting wrong to just one among other races. I mean, if you see one rotten apple in a basket doesn't mean that all apples in the basket are already rotten, although we may say that there is a possibiliy that there could still be some rotten apple in the basket.
For instance in our place, we have rebels that are Muslims in Mindanao(Philippines), People here usually perceive Muslims as rebels which is not really right. I guess there are really people who are close-minded and its really hard to change the way they perceive things. :)

I'm Chinese so I don't hate the Chinese at all! I really love that our history and culture is so rich. It's always interesting to read about the old tradition. I think some people don't like the Chinese because we're everywhere and we seem to be into everything. It's really true that Chinese are good traders and businessmen. What I don't like about the Chinese is their lack of manners and hygene. When I went to Shanghai early this year, almost everyone smoked and threw their ciggies on the streets. No one opened the door for me, everyone shoved everyone else, and there was a lack of respect for elders and kids. It's just a dog eat dog world out there.

Yeah, shanghai is a city with crowded trafic. If u know Yizhongtian who is the three kindoms' expert, u will know his evaluation of shanghai and Wuhan. Shanghai people's reputaion are bad for their proud and prejudice. Wuhan people's reputaion are bad for their bad temper. However, there are really good people in both of the cities. It is not always wise to go by appearances. I am sorry for these people's bad behaviors. Oh the other hand, I found that both of the cities made a progress. They are much better now. I hope will be better and better!
When I traveled to shangsha, I had no chance to give my seats to the old since people vie each other in doing it. Also, when I traveled to dalian, I hardly find a piece of paper or something on the street. When I traveled to changchu, I was really moved by people's hospitality. People are kinda different in each country. Also, people don't keep a same pace in each city. I hope some people in some city would draw the strong points of others to offest their own weakness.
Some Chinese really need to learn a lesson!

Hello hiddenwings and welcome to myLot. I hope that you meet some very interesting people here. I am an American and I don't hate the Chinese people. I do disagree with some of the things that the Chinese government does. I find what little culture and history I do know to be very interesting. I don't know any individual Chinese to like or hate. I believe that the Chinese people are as different form each other as night is from day and it is the same in any other country. I think that there can be a lot of hatred because of lack of knowledge about a country's,s culture and history. I thought your country did a beautiful job with the opening ceremony for the Olympics. I still want my country to beat yours for the gold medals.

Some American people hate everything but you can't look at the rest of us like that. I love Chinese food, it is my favorite. I would love to go to China and see the culture there. I am glad you had a nice teacher from the states. i wish this whole world could have people like that in it, unfortunately we don't so we have to just look over the people that are rude and mean to us and know that they live in that kind of life themselves. Most of us are nice people and treat others the same way. No I don't think most Americans hate chinese.

Hate is a strong word. Are you sure these people you speak of hate Chinese or do they hate the Chinese government? There is a big difference. The Chinese people have nothing to do with what the Chinese government does, just like the American people have nothing to do with what the American government does. I don't hate Chinese, however I do not like what the Chinese government does. Then again I don't like what the American government does and I don't hate Americans either. The next time someone says to you they hate Chinese ask them what they mean by that statement, you might be surprised.
