This weekend is a no sales tax weekend in Massachusetts. The stores are all advertising great deals to pay new flatscreen tv, new electronics, new furniture etc. Does your state offer a tax free weekend? Does not paying taxes make any difference to go out shopping and buy a large item?

I have never heard of No Sales Tax ever. This is a nice idea though. Yes I think a lot of people would wait to buy large item! The saving would be huge! And with us all having to change the Television set by Feb. I can see a lot of people wanting to get them while they do not have to pay sales taxes!

In the state of GA where I reside, we have several no tax weekends. We do have restrictions on what you can purchase without tax. It is normally associated with students and needs for school, other items are exempt from the discount. The max purchase is 1500 dollars and that would be for computer systems. Clothes are allowed but up to max of 100 dollars for an item, so not intended for a 300 dollar pair of designer jeans. The weekend was created to assist parents with the cost of purchases associated with school.
If you are a parent with financial limitations then any savings is a help. In my state its 7%, so its not a lot, but every bit helps for the items that you need. Fortunate for me I won't necessarily wait for this type of sale, as the savings is not that important. But I am glad that its available for those people that need every penny to count.

Here in England we don't have any such weekends, I am rather jealous!
There are always sales going in one store after another, but I often wonder how much of a good deal I am actually getting when I look at what the starting price was.
I agree, we have to be really careful with out money these days, make it last, and make sure you are getting your money's worth.
