I am thinking I need to apply for a part time job and I am looking at Walmart or Target. There is also a Lowes openning up a few miles away. Has anyone worked part time at any of these stores? I would be looking for nights from 6pm-close and then maybe 1 weekend day.

I work at Walmart and really enjoy it. Maybe I am lucky with the store I have but the people are great all the way through managers up to store manager. The wages here are totally comparable to other stores and annual increases mean that after three years I certainly couldn't be earning the same anywhere else locally. Be careful when you apply that you don't restrict your availability too much or they wont look favourably on you much better to get your foot in the door show them your a good worker then change it!

The 6pm onwards would be good in a role like cashier as evenings are busiest but saying you will only work one day at the weekend won't be looked on so well. Walmart usually only hires on a part time basis these day which is 32 hours a week but rarely does anyone get the full 32 hours.

i worked for walmart for about 3 months and hated it. in fact i dont even shop there anymore cause i cant stand the way the managers treat people. there are no bennifits for the workers. if you just want a job and dont care if you talk to people and dont want to ever go anywhere with a company and want to make min wage or little more then that then yes its a good job. if you want to be treated badly and never get a thank you then yep its a good job. since old man walmart past on and his wife did too and the kids got the business it has went down hill.

My daughter has worked there a couple of times and hated it. They don't care about their employees and the people are just not nice. You would think a place like "walmart" that makes so much money would be nicer to their employees. Its a real shame.
