I am obsessed! I find that when I discover a new subject I have to know everything about it. Not just a little piece of the story, but every microscopic detail. Sometimes my interest can be very wearing, not just for me but those around me too. Are you like this?

Sounds like you need better friends their lady!!! The search for knowledge is NEVER boring!!! Anybody not willing to help you learn, is NOT a true friend.

I don't have to many true friends, most are to busy caring about their own lives to care about what I am gabbing on about.I have more friends on Mylot and I feel that some know me more then my friends and family whom I have known forever.

I start off wanting to know everything about a subject but then get sidetracked by something more interesting. I think they call it a grasshopper mind nowadays but when I was at school it was classed as the behaviour of a slow learner. That's why I never got any decent results on anything, because I'd start on something like the tudors and decide learning about the people not the monarchs was the interesting bit and they didn't ask the questions I knew the answers to. I am now a mine of useless information though which doesn't get you a good job but makes conversation with anyone fairly easy.

The Tudors were an interesting bunch and of course they had dear old Enerey the 8th. Scalp hunter extraordinaire. You are what we call "widely read" Nanna. Shame a few more people aren't too. I am looking forward to a little more of the easy conversation tomorrow.

Hi p1,
I am also like that when I am very interested! I will not stop asking questions or researching about the subject...and sharing what I learned to the people around me..
But, when I am not also interested, I can't focus and hard to retain even a single detail!

I am just like you! I am fascinated by the history surrounding Henry VIII, his 6 wives and their children! I am an racle on the subject, all of my friends think it's a bit sad, I can't help it though I just find it really interesting and want to know more and more about it! I look at it this way though, they might think I'm a history geek but at least I have a specialist subject for if I ever get to go on mastermind! hehe xx

YES, obession can be a WONDERFUL thing. I love learning new things. However, I have been known to spend soooo much time preparing that I lose sight of the finish. I have to remind myself to get my emotions back in check or I can ruin a totally wonderful experience. But then too, the preparation can be half the fun of learning. Assuming you are in learn mode....happy travels!!!

AMEN!!! I have been known to trip over my own feet at the finish line. Or to never make it out of the starting block due to my excitement. May your learning process bring you much pleasure!!!

When my interest is peaked i usually like to learn as much as i can but i don't think i become obsessed i do like to be well informed and look at a number of sources. i like to gain new skills/knowledge and it's something that comes naturally but i much prefer to spend spare time being creative. Just curious do you then pass the info you've learned on?

When you say creative Mands do you mean sewing etc? I am not sure what you mean by passing my information on. If I am discussing a subject that I know about with another person I suppose that I do. However, mostly it is just to make me better informed.

I don't put that sort of information in my blog. Actually it's so long since I put anything in my blog that it's petitioning the UN for relief! LOL. I am a Guide in my local Cathedral and have had to learn a great deal about my part of it. I pass that information on if it seems relevant to the visitors.

I can be like this with some things although I usually get bored or find a new subject quite quickly. I have a problem sometimes in that I read factual books where there are often several subjects about which I would like to learn more. The most interesting thing I've learnt recently is about a fellow called Count Saint Germain (I've got a discussion about him somewhere) and now I can't find any new information. I have found all I can find but I need to know more. Isn't that typical?!

I've looked at everything I can find and it just gets me even more confuddled. I think I have looked at the one you said. Thank you anyway. I will tae another look just in case I didn't look at that one.

I am not interested to the extent of obsession....but if I am interested in something, I try to get to know as much as I can.
In fact it was only last week that my husband said the same thing about me. Anything I get interested in, I get so absorbed in it, that other things take a backseat for a while.....which in my opinion was a good thing...but he sees it as a negative aspect (lol....maybe because he has to then pull his weight around the house).

I p1kef1sh can you explain to me; ¿Why here in Puerto Rico, the governor, judges, senators, and the legislators, are called Honorables or Lordships. When the only thing they can do, is spend all the income tax money, in personnal things, fancy cars, gasoline, personnal drivers, fancy restaurants, and federal fundings going dry for funny things? And then the most important things of daily life, for all the people in Puerto Rico; going down the drain. No money for students loans, college funding, food and water, public housing, hospitals, medicines, and others. But there is money for their pay rate increases, and daily food intake of $140.00
and fancy clothing every day, plus all they can waste with friends.¿Can you explain? !No one here can do so to me¡!What about it p1kef1sh?

It is very simple Focjop. They set the laws and spend you tax money - on your behalf. The citizen is not clever enough to do these things him/herself. So as a recognition of the higher intellectual status of the "elite" they get given titles that lesser mortals cannot understand. Hope that helps. LOL.

Morning Piky, well the sky is blue here, the washing is on,the dig is asleep and you have no need to ask where Mr Ruby is!..on business of course lol.Now im not sure if this situation of yours is comparable to a disorder,an OCD.lol,I dont mind listening to anything and learning about anything to a certain degree, but I wouldnt want to eat sleep and drink it.My mum once became obsessed with the life of Henry the Eighth and that was a trying time let me tell you ,I used to have to listen to all the tales of his wives and how they met their end etc, well I was extremely pleased when the fascination waned.I might have to feel a little sorry for dear Mrs Pike,I hope you arent boring the pants off of her.

I hope that you mum didn't lose her head over our Henry Ruby. Mrs P1ke indulges me. A cup of tea and a bourbon and she locks the dungeon door and leaves me. I think that she works best when I, like Mr Ruby, am otherwise engaged! LOL. Just been to Shepton Mallet to drop daughter off at the Bath &West Showground. Pitched her tent for her and prayed that she gets no rain.

I start of wanting to know about the subject then I aways stray away and move onto something else. I have always been a slow learner when it came to theory and reading up on information, that's probably why I didn't do so well at school. I just learn enough to get by. I'm trying to change , a little bit at a time everyday. It's amazing what I do find that I should of known before LOL

I don't know pikey. It would depend on what we are talking
about. It depends on the topic. If it is something that
really interests me then I probably would want to know
as much as possible about it. Yes, I could tend to be
to the point that I would get obsessive about it. Is that
what you're trying to say? What is this subject that has
you so crazy? Can you tell?
