I have never donated blood, I am really afraid of needles, how long does it take to regain the blood that you give? And how much blood do they take?

I doted blood one time - when I was a senior in high school. The Red Cross was at my high school promoting blood donation, and my state had just started letting 17 year olds donate blood. All the seniors in my marching band class decided to get together and donate blood, because we had a senior member who was very ill and needed blood transfusions. After they get through taking the blood from me, and I had my orange juice and doughnut, I stood up and almost passed out. that cured me from donating blood any more.

I don't have a very strong stomach or whatever you call it for things like that. I hate having to get a shot even. When I have to get blood work done or an IV put in, I turn my head and close my eyes. But that's another discussion to go into all together.

I donate blood. The needle isn't long and it's only a quick pinch feeling..and you help people who need help.
It only takes about 3 days before you regain your own blood (they take only a pint) and your bone marrow makes it back. Drink lots of fluids after giving and you'll be great!

blood donation is actually beneficial for both the recipient and donor. once you donate blood, your body will replace it in a matter of time. It will just feel like a bee sting at the site of puncture. around 450 ml of blood will be taken and that's it, you have already saved a life.
happy donating!!!

I have donated my blood twice. You need to donate blood voluntarily without hezitation as it might same someones life. It takes about 3to 4 months to regain the dontated blood and at a time you can donate 250 ml of your blood.

Donating blood is such a wonderful way to save lives. It takes 56 days for your body to replace a unit of whole blood. One unit can also save more than one life.

When I was in my early teens, I remember donating blood once. I wanted to donate blood right now but I have hypertension and the doctors and the specialists told me that it is not recommended for those with hypertension to donate blood. I can vaguely remember how much blood was taken from me. It was around 500ml or so. I got weak right after and I had to recuperate for an hour or two. They gave us something to eat. If I can, I won't hesitate to donate right now.

yes i do. i was in college when i first donated blood. i was a member of the Red Cross Youth in my school and we sponsor bloodlettings in our school. they only take 450cc. i wanted to make it a habit of donating blood quarterly. but this was not realized. i still donate blood once in a while. the last time was september of last year. it's not painful chevee.. the needle seems scary to look at but it's not that painful as what you think it is.
