What is webhosting? can anyone explain it to me in layman's terms.

hmmm.. i guess the simplest way to explain goes like this.. a webhost is like an online hard drive. a storage area. it is pretty much where you store everything you want to put up in your website. "webhosting" is the service provided by companies for you to have that storage area. and yes.. there are lots of free webhosting sites all over the net. just be careful as not all of them are safe, specially if you are planning to put sensitive data. free webhosting is great for those who are just starting to learn since you don't need to pay for anything.

The way my husband explains it to his clients, webhosting is where your website files are served to the general public from. Without webhosting, your website would not be visible to the public. Hope this helps you in understanding what webhosting is. My husband owns a server, so he basically rents out space for other websites to reside, in order for them to be viewable to the public.
