Contact phone numbers

Hi everyone! I am not looking for any phone numbers but was just wondering how many people do really remember their own phone numbers and the number important contacts no. they could recall I have a small book of a list of important contact numbers but I have misplaced it few weeks ago and now I totally depend on my cell phone. Do you still keep a list of contact numbers in a small address or phone book and carry with you? Or do you save them in your mobile phone? I have a few friends who have temporarily mental block whenever they are asked for their phone numbers and instead turned to meto tell them. And most of the time, I would retrieve my friends' phone numbers from the phone too anyway. So are we becoming so handicap nowadays that we depend so much on our mobile phone and too lazy to use our brain to think anymore? Does this way simplify your life? What do you think? Thank you for sharing.

That's the common way people do "saving phone numbers to the mobile phone" I think this is more easier way because listing it takes a lot of time, but if you have spare time doing it then why not?

Yea. I can remember a few. I can remember My Own mobile number, my mommy's number, my daddy's number, my home number, my granny's home number, my uncle's number and a few of my good friend's number. I used to remember my brother's number but he kept changing his mobile number.. There are numbers which are real easy to remember and I do not even need to memorize them. I prefer remembering my loved ones number as in case of emergency and I do not have my mobile phone and contact list around, I can still call them.

His number used to be very easy to remember. His numbers are getting more difficult to remember.

MOst of the numbers of my frenz are inside my brain too.. haha =D The habit has been with me ever since i was young, because we had no cell phone back then, and thus we can only use our manual phone book to write down the numbers.. BUt sometimes when we have got too many numbers to write and it takes time to flip thru, i will try to memorise as i write down, so that it's much faster for me.. hehe And so till now, my brain is still working in the same way, though i no longer using manual phone book.. lol =D

Hi Kun, that's great and such a high value brain for sure. I would certainly wish I am not that lazy and could be able to do that. Just not the one who fancy numbers I guess. Thank you for the response and have a good weekend! Cheers,

I have all my contacts in my mobile phone, the reason for this is because I always have it with me. I don't have THAT many contacts to warrant buying a book, as I feel it looks empty and I would only have to put my contacts in my phone to ring them in the end. Also I have a habit of rewriting my phone book, when I used to have one, because I hate my old writing, when my style of writing changes.

Hi Elixiress, I do have the same thoughts like you, having the cellphone with me all the time and whatever contacts are in there. So convenient and hate the thought of losing it. I do have back up but often needs updating. Thank you for sharing. Cheers and happy posting.

Hi, I'm totally dependent on my mobile for numbers, dates and reminders. I even have my own house phone keyed in, just in case someone asked me for it. And I fear to think about what would happen, if something should happen to my phone, and everything keyed in, is wiped out! I suppose I better have a backup, like my computer!

Hi Bee, lol...you are just like me, most stuffs in the mobile phone and I would certainly be very sad if I lost my phone, it's a walking telephhone directory really! And I am too absent minded to update in my computer either..mmmmm.. Thank you for sharing and have a good weekend! Cheers,

Hi Desierra, I save all the contact numbers of my loved ones, relatives, friends and others in my cellphone SIM card. I also save another set of them in the phone book in my other old cellphone. So incase I lose my cellphone I currently use I still could copy the whole set from my phone book to my new phone. Of course I can remember many important contact numbers that I usually use. It’s nice for me that I could still make calls to the persons using public phone or friends’ cellphone if I forget to bring my cellphone along. posting and take care.

Hi Ikbooi, that is a good thing to do, better safe then sorry later. I will have to make an effort to remember more numbers like you than depend on my cellphone too much. It is so handy and makes things simpler for sure. I do have a small booklet of my contact list but been years I have really updated it. Thank you for sharing. Cheers,

unfortunately, i dont totally depends on my mobile phone although lot of important numbers stored in my phone. but sometimes, theres an incident that we forget to bring our phone so when theres an emergency believe it or not, it will not be a problem for me because i most of those important numbers were stored in my mind but if i have my cellphone with me, i still look for that number just for confirmation

hi desierra, there are times when i need help to recall my phone number. but i don't usually forget my own 13 digits phone number. i also exactly remember my gf long phone number. i used to have 'real' phone book with me, but now i leave it. i depend completely on my mobile phone alone.

When I had AOL I had an online address book that I used to store all my friends and their phone numbers, when I got DSL I made a written address book on a piece of notebook paper, but I kept forgetting to update it,and it proved to be nothing but a hassle,All my contacts and my phone numbers were in my old cell phone, accept I know you saw my discussion about my cell phone getting run over,so now I am back to a written contact list, until I can get another cell phone, and I think using a mobile phone to remember contacts doe simplify things.

Hi, I do have a back up in my computer and email contact list. Yes, it is sure handy to have them in the mobile phone book and retrieve any contact with just a finger tip. I still have a small booklet of contact lists that fit nicely in my wallet but been some time I have updated it. Too bad I have lost the latest one thoughand would be troublesome if I ever lose my mobile phone. Hope things are back to normal for you soon, Cheers,

Hey desierra. I thankfully still make myself dial the phone numbers on my home phone. I purposely don't have them programmed in so that I make myself remember them. That way I am forced into knowing the numbers just in case. I don't use my cell except for emergencies because I don't have a plan. I only have a prepaid cell. I mainly use my home phone. So this way I do have to keep my phonebook up to date the old fashioned way. I keep yelling at my boyfriend because he keeps loosing numbers from his cell and can't find where he wrote them down on some stupid little paper somewhere. I keep telling him to get a phonebook and put the numbers in it. He doesn't listen so he just doesn't have the numbers when the drop out of his cell. I think even if I had them programmed into the phone I still would keep a backup phonebook. I'm just used to having it that way.

Hi Opal, that is good thinking and very safeI could imagine if my friends keep asking for phone numbers which they could have make some effort to remember themselves and did not I even back up in my computer, in the mail adds, I really depend on technology so much. I think it's a good practice to remember the important ones and back up in a small book which one could carry around. Thank you for sharing. Cheers and happy posting.

yes I can always remember my numbers.I have to memorize them as they are often asked when filling out information. I can even remember my bank account number. It pays to remember important numbers as it saves you time when you're in a hurry. Happy Mylotting.

Hi, guess it has gone deep in the brain and subconsciously you would know it too, that is wonderful and would stay in your head forever for sure. Cheers,

Well I think that's why there is a phonebook in every cellphones to get rid of doing it manually. But I knew of someone who patiently writes every number she knew whether be it on the cellphones or landlines to her address book - that's my mother. Oh yes, she painstakingly write em in shaking hands to her telephone book. I guess some people just don't trust the technology.

Hi SummerChick, I believe your mum strongly believe the simplicity of things. My parents don't even have cellphones and they are doing fine. My dad does that too, rewrite contact numbers & addresses in his diary every year. Thank you for sharing. Cheers,
