Hi My Lot'ers, I've been watching the olympics for the last couple of hours. Oh man.... will the record of 8 (!!!!!!!!) GOLD Medails in the same Olympic Game made by the U.S. swimmer phantom Michael Phelps ever be beaten? I don't think so... it's just amazing. I'm not from U.S., but avoiding getting incredibly impressed by this is just pure impossible. Only 24 years old, and setting this record... I'm almost speechless. What do you think folks? Take care, no1biz :-))

It took 36 years before Phelps eclipsed Mark Spitz's record of 7 gold medals. It is a superheroic feat and one that may not ever be broken. But then again with so many advancements in science and the training athletes are subjected to, we can never tell. Phelps is definitely awesome and I sincerely hope this achievement will help him to use it as a means to inspire more young people.

I think Phelps is as speechless as you haha! That man just thinks of himself as a regular guy, which is really admirable and humble of him. It definitely is amazing that he won those eight golds, beating Spitz, I stuck by throughout the Olympics and watched every one of his final races, and they were all phenomenal. It is possible that he can be beaten, but is it likely? No, it is not very likely. Mark Spitz's record took over thirty long years to be beaten, so I think it would take much longer for Phelps's record to ever be beaten. Is it even possible to be in over eight events to beat his record?? It's so crazy to think that he has so many gold medals, many athletes live their lives and think of how it is amazing that they have earned one gold medal in their careers, even if it is bronze, let alone any medals in their Olympic careers. He has a lot to be proud of, he worked very hard for those medals and his past medals in Athens. He will be in London's summer Olympics for 2012, so that will be interesting to watch. Hopefully he is still really good at swimming by then, I don't want him to end his career being "not as good as he once was," you always want to end on a good note, and he could have done that now and never looked back, but he has a great passion for the sport and he will be admired forever for his accomplishments.

This record will never be broken. Michael Phelps is basically God in America and probably the most popular athlete in North America, maybe even the world.
