i bite the edges of my fingers. am i nuts or normal?

even on a normal day, i tend to bite the skin around my nails. and i wont stop if the edges are still rough. sometimes i overbite it,leaving it sore and bleeding. i just cant get enough of it sometimes. so i will grab a nail cutter to smoothen the edges and bite it again. argh! it's annoying and fun at the same time. i just wont stop. ( bite.. bite.. bite...)
