Bathing in milk and honey ?

I have heard that in old days peoples used to bath in milk and honey to look beautiful..... don't know do people still use it in such a costly era.
what are the benefits of that...

basically, milk and honey when applied generously to the skin make skin really soft and smooth. i like the idea actually but they are so expensive. i do milk bath once a month. i stay in my bathtub for a minimum of thirty minutes. but i don't lie down on pure milk for that will cost me a fortune. a carton of milk mixed with water and a about 100ml of honey work perfectly fine for me.

I heard that honey and milk are good to soft and fair skin.
Many cosmetics using them as basic elements.
Like soaps, hand and body lotions, face cream.
