I have to admit I'm like that too. I do pray whenever and wherever I can. But I do pray earnestly when I'm really depressed about something. Human as we are, this is one of tendencies.

Hi there!
I always pray everyday. Before going to bed, after waking up I also do novenas. I have patron saints that I pray onto regularly. I also pray whenever I feel there's a need for me to talk the Lord. When I want to share something to him, tell my problems or just saying hi whenever I happen to pass by the church, I visit him and pray a little.
Praying is my way of talking to the Lord. Not just for asking something.

I think that you should pray at all times not only when you need something, when those are good times when something is going on in your life, but also to pray when you don't need something. Praying for forgiveness of your sins also is good.

I pray often, I say my prayers before I go to bed, I work about 20 miles from home I pray before I get on that highway, I pray for the Lord to take care of my children and grand children. I am constantly talking to God.
I pray for friends.
I am praying now for the people in Florida.
We have a member here now on My Lot that is terrified with the approaching hurricane. I am going to pray for her safety.

hi djoyce,
i believe the real spirit and purpose of pray, rituals and other spiritual practice is to keep our mind dominated by (the idea about) god. it is aimed to enable us always remind of god. by always thinking of him, our mind will always be clean, pure and elevated, and our consciousness will always improve. so, we are recommended to dominate our mind with ideas about god, not about our need, our sin, our guilty feeling.
so, i don't 'pray' in the way people usually do. but i have my own spiritual practice to keep my mind always dominated by god. take care...

Praying is not only when you are in times of needs. Praying is a way of communicating with God. In my case, I pray many times every day. I find it a way of telling the Lord that I don't forget that He is always with me. I pray in the morning for half an hour then on my way to my job while in the bus I also pray. As I arrive in the office, I do pray also before starting my job. I also pray to thank my God before I eat. I also pray before leaving the office and pray once again at night before I retire to bed.

Hi Djoyce, prayers are such a personal thing, so I believe there should not be any rules governing when, where, how or what.
I pray for the health and safety of my loved ones, to give thanks, for peace when disasters hit others; I pray whenever I feel like doing so.
