People say it is the best tasting fruit in the world if you can get over it's smell. It is said to smell as bad as it tastes good. I think it is also called durian. I still haven't tasted it, have you? If so what do you think. Apparently you either love it or you hate it?

Hi Lovecoffin. That's funny because I am sure I have heard people say they are the same thing, are they from the same family or something? Thanks for this info - mimpi and I might have to travel over there to taste it!

They sell them i our supermarket in Queensland, but they are imported, frozen and defrosted, so they won't taste the same and they are VERY expensive. I have seen a video from rawmodel.com where he is in Asia (I think it is vietnam) and they have stalls full of durian which he goes crazy over. We have a lady who sells exotic fruit at the markets, and she grows durian which aren't ripe yet, so I am waiting for her to bring them in, but it sounds like travelling to Asia might be the go. My sister used to live in China and thinks it could have been what a really bad smell she used to smell was, because she didn't know about durian, so she missed out! I am sure I will get to taste it soon, I hope you do to.

Hi there, you know I do know that fruit, it reallly stinks all over the area wherever you probably placed it, but it doesn't smell bad like hell like a public c.r in the Philippines do lol. But despite that smell it really tastes good. You'll love it, unless if you're conscious of what your smell be like after eating that fruit lol. Now I finally know the official name of that fruit, because here in the Philippines we locally know that fruit as "durian", yeah. =)

Oh? So its not dragon fruit. It's just "king of fruits" well thanks for the reply, it will turn out embarassing if I define a wrong fruit to be a dragon fruit lol. By the way, I think I remember the dragon fruit, here in the Philippines they called the dragon fruit as "granada". But still, I like durian. Oh by the way, be careful on applying perfume on your mouth ^_^. just kidding =)

Hi winterlion. Wow, I hadn't even thought of what I will smell like afterwards! That's probably also a good point, if everyone else has some, maybe they won't notice, or I suppose I will have to get some strong perfume to mask it. I hope you know that I was wrong when I said it was called dragon fruit, as that is a different fruit and I confused the name. It certainly is called durian, but it IS "king of the fruits".

Im from the Philippines particularly from the southern part where Durian can be found. I totally love it. It bears fruit annually so everyone anticipates that time of the year. During our local festival, Durian is really abundant. Sometimes it costs as low as USD .50/kilo. I love its sweet taste. Sometimes you will get used to the aroma. If you cant really take the smell, there are also candies made from Durian. But nothings really beats the taste of the real one. They say Durian tastes like heaven but it smells like hell! c",)
