I'm little confused what your yoga means. because, now a days breathing exercises, meditation and yogasanas all are reffered to yoga.
Yes, i like to do meditation. Also, I did breathing exercises. These are good for health, although I have observe these are even better for mental health. I enjoy a tension free and stress free mind when I do meditation.
But one thing I must say, in fact I few days started this topic too, that yoga can't cure any major diseases like heart attack, cancer. It only helps to provide a better quality of life. I have included a blog written by my nephew in profile. There he has presented scientific eveidence of how yoga is good for short term and fail to cure cancer and all these diseases.

Yoga is very good for keeping fit but I would not agree with your statement that yoga is the BEST. What people don't usually understand is that yoga is not about the different postures that we engage in while performing yoga but the key is the breathing technique involved while performing those asanas. One has to concentrate pretty hard on the breathing to get the yogasanas correct. And this concentration on the breathing improves your overall concentration power which in turn helps you concentrate better in your day to day activities. And if you can concentrate better in your day to day activities you would automatically excel in them.
About the physical state of a person and the effect of yoga on it. Yes yoga has a big effect on the body and it is positive. With better breathing rhythm and long deep breathing technique most of the toxins in the body will get removed as body gets proper oxygen quantity and also the ability to get those oxygen molecules to all parts of the body in the required amount. with higher oxygen carrying copacity in your lungs and blood the toxins and free radicals in the body will be washed off faster. this will make the body more fitter.
Lastly with the different yogasanas the muscles will get good toning and relaxation which will make the body more supple and flexible. this will help in having a better body shape and posture.
