It would be better if the manufacturers could design better packaging that was the minimum needed and was quickly biodegradable so that when it was dropped on the streets it would quickly disappear. Another idea would be to put a tiny computer chip on every piece of packaging and when someone bought their name and address would be recorded on the chip. When these were dropped on the street then the authorities could find out who dropped it and fine them.

Oh yes i would participate, in fact I used to go for walks along the beach with a plastic bag picking up rubbish and glass...there would be a lot people who wouldn't though, I remember going to a local park with a lake with ducks and someone had checked a lot of rubbish in it so i started picking it up and putting it in a bag and my friends thought I was crazy, the attitude was it wasn't my job to clean the park...and that is how most people think unfortunately...

I would definitely participate. The problem however, is that half the world would pick a piece up and the other half would throw a bagful out. Then we would have more trash than ever. If more large corporations would start to go green it would help tremendously.
