If you drink coffee...

If you drink a coffee and you don't know better, you can consume hundreds of calories in seconds. For example the average latte with all it flavors and syrups can have over 600 calories. Drink ice cold green tea because of all the antioxidants and it has enough caffeine to give you that morning lift and rev up your metabolism. Also,if it's served with ice,you further push your body to burn more calories so that by the time you done drinking it,you have lost up to 50 calories. It's a negative calorie drink. So do you like green tea?

I have never had green tea. I usually drink teas in the winter. I also like the cappuccino coffees but only drink it once in a while as a treat. You have given me something to think about. I'll have to get some green tea and try it.

Don't worry gabbana Don't drink coffee if you don't know the facts better.A good quality cup of plain coffee has only one or two calories in it,only the "dress up"adds hundreds of calories in to your coffee.Minimize the extras you put in to your cup of coffee and still bring the taste and enjoyment you seek.Drinking too much coffee is not good for you.Thank you for sharing.Good day Have fun and cheers..

I have to admit I am definitely a coffee addict. However, I prefer regular folgers with nutrasweet and coffee creamer. This doesn't have as many calories as the crazy sugary drinks that they sell at starbucks. Don't get me wrong, I love starbucks but it can get expensive if you frequent it enough. The best green tea drink I have found is the Lipton diet citrus green tea. No calories, no carbs and definitely keeps you hydrated while giving you a natural pick up.

Pure coffee has no calories, it's the additives like cream, sugar, etc that make it heavy, which people tend to their tea, too, even the green tea variety. Both alone have the same metabolic effect altough green tea overall has other health benefits and is therefore the wiser choice, if you can stomach it;)

Actually what the OP is referring to isn't even really coffee, it's coffee drinks, which yes can have way more calories and fat than you could probably fit in a regular cup of coffee with cream and sugar.Don't get me wrong I love a good coffee drink now and again, but mostly if I drink coffee it's a plain cup.

Thank you for sharing jonsey and DarkDancer you are both correct, drinking coffee without knowing the fact is not good but, drinking just plain coffee contains only one or two calories. So it's not a big deal.Only the "dress up" makes a difference in,fat and calorie count.A good quality plain cup of coffee almost has no calorie in it at all.The coffee bean has oil in it,sometimes a really bad coffee can be due to the oils in it becoming rancid.Keep healthy.Good day have fun and cheers...

What you are saying makes lots of sense to me. I am drinking my coffee with non dairy creamer and sugar, sometimes I drink a lot and sometimes not even a cup. I am weird that way.

yes i am a coffee drinker and i guess i will always be. it not just the caffeine shot alone. i love the aroma and taste of coffee too. thankfully i only take it with two spoons of sugar. if i take latte, i'll just take it with the milk, no flavour or syrup. i rarely drink green tea, only when i visit japanese restaurants. it's not a favourite of mine though i do enjoy the taste when i drink it occasionally. cheers ;p

I do like green tea, but I've only ever drank it hot and decaffeinated. I've never even thought about putting it over ice, but I should try that. I do occasionally have a small decaf nonfat latte with no sweetener, so it's about 80 calories (for the cup of nonfat milk that's in it) and since that is calcium, I can justify drinking it pretty easily. But thanks for the tip about Green Tea. I will definitely try it over ice. Take care.

I drink coffee and green tea and I can say that coffee works much better for me when I need a morning booze. I don't drink coffee that has sugar or cream in it so it's more effective. I didn't know that green tea has the same caffeine with coffee nor that it contains caffeine. I would try that, I'll make hot tea first and put ice afterwards then I'll see what effect it has on me. Thanks for the info.

Hi roshand! I've read your post and I've never thought of that. I'm a coffee addict and I also drink tea but I've never thought of that effects if i get to drink a lot of coffee. My boyfriend actually recommends me to take in more green tea than coffee because it's good for loosing weight. I've always been complaining about my weight but I'm tired of doing some exercise. That's why he told me to take some tea...hehehe! Anyway, from now on, I think I'll take my boyfriend's advice to drink more tea and less coffee! :)

We drink a lot of green tea but I still prefer coffee. The lattes usually are high fat because people get them with whole milk and order drinks with multiple syrups in them. A skim milk latte is only 130 calories, get the sugar free syrup and that calorie count barely moves. Even with the normal syrup you are only adding 70 calories.

I have just started drinking green tea. I do like it and I'm trying to replace some of the coffee I usually drink with green tea. I will never give up coffee entirely, and I always drink it without milk, cream, sugar, syrup or anything added to it. There are not many calories in black coffee. It also contains antioxidants. I agree that the sweet creamy drinks served in coffee shops are not healthy drinks.

Being selective and buying certain coffee will keep the calories low and still bring the taste and enjoyment one seek. The coffee bean has oil in it,sometimes a really bad coffee can be due to the oils in it becoming rancid.A good cup of plain brewed coffee contains only a couple of calories, dress up make a difference in fat and calorie count.Thank you for sharing paid 2write keep healthy and cheers...

I like green tea but are cutting down on caffeine. Beware of purchased iced tea as it probably has heaps of sugar and possibly chemicals in it. Have you had white tea, it is younger tea and I think it is less processed than even green tea - do you know if green tea leaves are dried or heated? If I have a coffee I also try to keep it black or with skim milk which will also keep the calories down. Also if you are trying to give up coffee it is good to use organic decafe coffee and dandelion coffee/tee as replacements to help you cut down.
