For me it all started when I was very young and my mom is a library committe president. At that time I used to go along with my mother to library. Initially I used to read only childrens magazines. Once when I was about 10 years old, my mother asked me to get a new novel for her from the library. When I was returning back from library, I just happened to open and read first few pages of the book. It got me so obsessed that the next day when I was supposed to return the book, I just sat under a tree and finished it off. From then on I read each and every book that comes to my hands from first to last. So do you remamber how it all started for you?

I can't really remmeber how I started. I must have been interested in books since young. I know my parents tell me the story. When I was a little over a year old, I will pretend to read the newspaper, babbling at each page. They told me that if I spot a book or newspaper, I will start to babble at each page before putting it away.

I used to read all the time as a child and teen . I was always in the library or @ home reading. I have no clue as to why I used to love to read so much. And at this point in time, I say used to read because I haven't been reading as much as I used to. I guess I've replaced them reading with journals. I'm hoping to get back into books the way I used to be.

My father inspired me a lot to go through all sorts of books. He used to bring books from Office library and we did not take it long to finish them. Later on, when we were in our 4th/5th Standard, we got membership in a local library. Onwards I was associated with different libraries and I used to read lots of books.

I started reading at a very young age myself and eventually amassed well over two and a half thousand books! Thanks to the internet and computers in general though, I don't read anywhere near as much as I used to. I remember one of the first "serious" books I ever read was "Among the Elephants"; I don't recall who wrote it but it was non-fiction and I even went as far as to handwrite out the first few pages as well! lol. But my first ever books were more than likely Beatrix Potter books like Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck and the other characters..... I had the whole collection and used to get in trouble when I was around three years old because I used to throw them off the balcony onto the metal roof at the base of our apartment building! It was because I liked the sound it made when the books hit the metal; but then again, maybe I was just a very young critic! lol. Nah..... They were good books that I enjoyed very much as a child!

i think i started reading once i can read. its when i was a 1st grader. i am the last son in my family, so i used to read my elder brother and sisters' books, even their text book in that time i lived in a country village. library sounds like a place on other planet moreover our economical condition was not so good that books sounds like a luxurious stuff for us. once i found a used children magazine being thrown, and i took it. it's like a holy book (i mean holy magazine) for me. i read it several times, so that almost every single letter on the magazine i had read. fortunately now i can easily find library, even i can buy books using my own money.

Hi, PK. When I was a kid, my sister and I used to go to the library and check out several books at a time. I remember not reading all of them. Now I wish that I had. I really didn't get "hooked" to reading until my adult years. Over the last several years, I have read enough books to start a small library. I have been reading biographies, books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, James Herriot, Stephen King, Beverly Lewis, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and several others. For awhile, I would read everyday for months. The I won't read much of anything for awhile. And then I would start up reading for months again. That has been the pattern for me. For the next 8 or 9 months, I will be reading mostly textbooks for the classes that I will be taking at the local junior college. I'm going to get my Associate in General Studies with emphasis in music. I'm also going to get a Web Design Certificate. I will have both of those next spring!!

Maybe when I read my first "real" book, most propably it was fantasy or horror. Something like that anyway. I was about 7 then... Not got a clue about what the book was, maybe Dracula or Frankenstein, something like that anyway.

When I was a kid we used to go to my grandparent's every Sunday and I was the only girl so the boys weren't any fun to hang out with and I got bored pretty fast. So, I would read the week's worth of newspapers that were stacked up in the den and I also read the Reader's Digest. I used to get books from the school library when I was in elementary school and from the local library when I was old enough to walk there by myself. I read a lot as a teenager but, as marriage and raising children came along, I found myself reading less and less. I still enjoy reading when I can find the time but that still doesn't happen too often even though the kids are grown now.

I started reading books when the Harry Potter book release. My aunty loves reading books and I always saw her smiling when she read harry potter book. Sometimes she tells me about what the story all about but she didn't let it end she say that why I didn't read the book so I can understand what the story all about. I'm a lazy person when it comes to reading a book. But the excitement to know what happen in that story makes me start to read it. The funny thing even I'm hungry I didn't stop reading it till I know what will happen in the next chapter.

I love to read books, novels, magazines anything that I can grab.It is kind of interest. It is my hobby too.It all started at very young age.We have collection of some books at home.Nobody reads it.One day,my mom left it open. She forgot to lock the cupboard.I picked one book,it was something called "World famous Mysteries",I read for a while and find it interesting, other day,I asked my mom to leave some of the books outside, so that I can read them too.Since then I love reading. It is not necessary for me that the book should only be of my interest. If I am travelling alone, this is my only companion

I still remember that day when i get hooked to reading. My interest in reading didn't start early. I got too busy with drawing, that i fail to see most of my mates are hooked in reading this girly novels. It started when i was in college, a friend of mine carried this novel by julie garwood, and i saw her she keeps smiling. I found myself smiling back. It got me interested and i asked her if i could borrow it. Since then, i got full of julie garwoods books! LOL

When I was a child my parents used to buy me what we called albums at Christmastime. These were large hardcover books with games and comics and short stories which I thought were quite good. I read stories about the wild west, buccaneers, soldiers and, I guess, that is what did it.

As for me, it all started with a comic book, I guess this thing is quite normal for children. It so happened that my classroom is situated near the library. To unleash my boredom I go there for a little entertainment. It has been my daily routine until such time I fell in love with reading.

Hi there! When I was still a baby my parents went abroad and were very fortunate to buy the whole series of Green Eggs and Ham by the famous Dr. Zeuss so I grew up with a lot of books already. My mom is also a former teacher so she knows reading is important. I was in my kindergarten years when I got fond of reading. I don't go out too much and reading books is my playing time. I would even invite my friends and pose as a librarian hehe and I let them read all my books. My mom kept buying me story books even when I was becoming a teenager so my love for reading just kept growing more. Until now mom buys me books every now and then and I love it.

I remember when I was 5 my mom bought me Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I remember that was my first story book and I read it along with other classic fairy tales. We had a lot of books in the house because my parents believed that reading is very important. When I was 7 as geeky as it may sound. I started reading the whole 19+ volumes of Children's Encyclopedia Britannica. I never got tired reading them and soon they were calling me a walking encyclopedia. When I'm at school I borrowed a lot of Ladybird Classics for kids and there I discovered my love for literature too.
