Wrestle Carol Huynh won the 2008 gold medal in wrestling. And this is the first gold medal of Canada in Beijing 2008. But if you are Canadian, is this something you would be proud of? I mean the athlete is not Native Canadian, she is Asian. What will be your reaction? Should you be proud of an Asian Athlete that won a gold medal for Canada?

At first,I am not a Canadian,I am Chinese. But I also can say:If a foreign athlete win a gold medal for China,I will still be proud of him or her.And I must thank his consecration ,efforts and struggle to my native. What olympic spirit calls for is to fight on the competition terrain, never say abjuration and aspirt after more, and the nationality is not important. It is like the slogan:One World,One Dream. So I am proud of every athletes in the Olympic competition terrain. They are the best.

just because she's not a native, she don't have the equal rights to be? no offense and i am not trying to flame something but i just felt and see that there might be something in it, in deeper sense. does it? i believe, no one can represent a nation if they are not a citizen of such country even their descendants are not native of a certain country. you should be proud of her considering that she fought for a country that is not where her parents came from. olympics isn't about race, religion, color, status or whatever it is there, but it is intended for all nations to be able to come and compete against one another in unity. these games bring various countries together even they are competing against each other.

Unless someone is a North American Indian then he or she is an immigrant from one century or another. There are many Canadians of Asian descent that have lived in this country for more generations than a lot of caucasian Canadians. We are proud of the fact that we are a mixed, diverse people where everyone is welcome. We are proud of all our athletes regardless of ethnicity and regardless of whether or not they win a medal. There is not one athlete at the olympics from any nation that is not there to do their best.
