I have always wanted to be a gymnast so one day I can be in the Olympics. My parents won't let me be in a class because they don't want it to interfere with my school work so I am going to have to learn it myself with books and DVD's so when I get to college I can enroll myself in a class. Do you thinl I am stupid for doing this?

I think if your passionate about something go for it. It might be a little late to be in the Olympics, but maybe you can coach.

I think that you should pursue it if you really want it. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I really like to play badminton and I would love to learn more about archery. If I am planning on doing it then I would have to train really hard and not give up. My advice to you is that if you really want it you need to pursure it. Good luck.

No. If you are passionate about something, you should pursue it. I believe kids of whatever age should be exposed to different extracurricular activities so they can develop abilities or talents or passions.
However, and I mean no disrespect, it's unlikely that you'd make it into the Olympics. Most gymnast in the games have been training since they were toddlers, and most of the competitors in the gymnastics are no older than their early 20's, and most of them are much younger than that - although there are some exceptions.
But don't let that stop you - go for it if that's your passion.
