I think some people don't have any mirrors at home.

Have you ever went out shopping or to eat and see somebody that was dressed like they must not have a mirror at home. I'm not talking about poor people, that can't do better. I'm talking about people you can look at and tell they choose to dress this way. Blue jeans with holes in them, and some look drity to me, and I've seen them on the rack that look like that. I have some jeans that look like that, but I wore them untill they looked that way. And a lot of these jeans may cost $100. If I'm going to pay a $100 for a pair of jeans they are going to look new when I take them home. But I guess I'm just getting to old. What about you?

I think blue jeans with holes are the style and they are kind of cool looking. I think I am too old to wear them thye would probably look ridiculous on me, but young kids can get away with it I guess. Anyway, our parents probably thought the things we were wearing when we were young were ridiculous also.

I'm 18 (fairly young) and I think these styles can be ridiculous. I would never pay 100 dollars for a pair of destroyed jeans, or ratty shirts/clothes in general. I want my clothes to last and look presentable, that means buying them new and/or in good condition.

hardluck - hi. I was wondering where these jeans came from? What if they were jeans that got damaged in the manufacturing process, jeans that companies used to discard as mistakes?
Then some brilliant, dumb, CEO decided to turn things around and started selling them for hundreds of dollars. The kids decided if the jeans cost that much, they must be worth buying.
Did they build machines that tear holes or shred fabric in the jeans? Think about it.
That's the only sense I can make of this fashion trend. Maybe its on the way out. Imagine, spending $100 for torn and ruined jeans? What a weird culture.

LOL well the fashion seems to be the ripped look,or the holey look!and the designers love that look. For me I want to take them and darn them lol we havent been brought up to wear holey jeans. But they look fine on youngsters. The denim jeans I dont care for are the ones that have that dirty look to them, they look as though they need a good scrub!!but they dont lol..im not into jeans myself, full stop,I prefer a pair of trousers, but jeans are a fashion statement to many.

I've seen this a few times. However, I haven't seen this a lot anymore. In my area tight pants are very popular due to the whole emo scene. So most of them don't have holes they just are super tight, lol. I don't get it, but whatever. I don't like having holes in my clothes because I don't want people to assume I want to be dirty.

well we all go out properly dressed, clean and tidy and very smart and we have no mirrors in our house, not big mirrors. We only have a small mirror in the bathroom, and two mirrors tucked away in drawers. I hate mirrors so don't want any in the house, but if the children wanted a big mirror then i would buy one for them.

Styles come and styles go. In this area thank gawd grunge has gone out. I mean if you stop in at a fast food you will see some people like that but you know they are stopping there on their way home from work and well when you are in a fast food place really doesn't matter what you are wearing. Styles may come and go but I have my own style and I'll stick with it. Just can't see myself wearing jeans that look like they are dirty or have holes in them. Well unless I am painting or something of that nature. But then again kids follow role models they see on tv and commercials and music artist and well if they wear worn clothes the kids are and if they are skippy well kids gunna follow that to. Not just kids now days young adults and adults that wish they were young and think they can pull it off. Yucky nothing like seeing a 40 plus trying to dress in late teens and 20 styles.

Hi hard,
Yea,,that is really everywhere and made me think that maybe they always in hurry to fix themselves or take few seconds to check their appearance! Or just don't really care!

Some people put fashion and appearance first. Some people put comfort first. I'm somewhere in the middle. I won't wear heels unless I absolutely have to because they hurt my feet and my back. But I don't wear ripped up stuff (old and crappy or new and "fashionable") either. Mostly I try to wear things that are comfortable but neat and that flatter what's left of my figure.

I understand your point here, but I had a wake up call to this myself last Spring when our property became flooded and blocked from basically civilization due to the Ohio river baking into our front yard and drive way. My mother was in the hospital and at that point they said she had to go home that day....well I had to walk across two fields of mud in jeans and boots, and then catch a ride into town to pick her up so we could stay at motel. Let's juts say I was looking really rough when I was checking her out of the hospital. Everyone was staring at me I know thinking "My God what a slob." I even caught one girl in the waiting area making snide comments to her friends and family.
All I have to say is I know now how those people feel when others speak against them. Including me. So I don't do anymore. You don't know what kinda stuff they got going on, just like those girls didn't know what I'd just been through becasue in the city it was all sunny skies and no water issues.
I know your topic isn't solely based on this kinda stuff, but I just let all assumptions go on how others look now. But I agree only an idiot would pay $100 for torn jeans and oily look. Grab a pair of scissors and beat the jeans down in an oily drive way- you'll get the same look for half the price. Have a great day.

LOL Jeans with holes are the best don't you know? I remember as a teen I'd work hard to get my new jeans to look that way. Then I realized I could save money AND have the style I wanted by buying them at garage sales instead. And its possible some people just don't care what others think. I know I'm one. I dress for comfort, and in what I like. I don't really care what anyone else thinks about what I choose.

I'm 26 and I don't even see the point of spending $100 on one piece of clothing and for that fact that looks like crap. I'd rather spend $100 on many pieces of clothing that doesn't look worn out at all. I don't even see the point of wearing jeans with holes on them.

No,you are not getting old, hardluck. It just depends on one's aesthetic standard.Jeans with holes is kind of fashion these days. And teenagers like them because it is cool and out of ordinary. They like to try something new.My sister has one and she looks pretty on them. But some others look not as great as they thought.I think it depends on each person.
And I don't appreciate jeans with lots of holes. No one will look great with them,i guess.^^

I am 20 years old and find the hole in jeans look out majorly I mean if your going to spend big money on jeans shouldnt you buy them without holes and not look like something the cat dragged in.

I think sometime it is more important to dress something we love to dress , if i like it i will wear it on , no mattet what others say.now i am stay at home i just wear the clothed which made me feel comfortable ,but not for a good looking because no body will mind me if i am beautiful or ugly.

I'd never pay $100 for jeans... EVER. I like this style personally... but there's cheaper stores out there. Plus you can just take a pair of your own jeans and make them 'worn out' looking... but the older, the more comfy. I like to change up my style and keep it original and I know when I wear my 'hole-ee' jeans that I don't look crusty ... lol because I keep the rest of my appearance clean and my hair 'did' :)
