Well guys this is the first post i have started in a long time as unfortunately I haven't been well enough to get online! Before I tell you what the title is all about I want to take this chance to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive whilst I haven't been here - you really are wonderful!
Anyway back to the title! Anyone who knows me knows that I can't get out of the house a lot and I have to spend most of my time lying down. well it was my daughters birthday on Friday , it was a great day and she thoroughly enjoyed herself and all the visits and presents she had and when Daddy asked what she wanted to do for lunch she really wanted a McDonalds so we decided that was what we would do! As I hobbled out to the car feeling quite sure that for me I looked smart in my red top and white jeans I suddenly realised that I was still wearing my house slippers on my feet. Now these slippers are not the type that could pass for shoes they are white and fluffy with pink lovehearts all over them! lol Turns out my other half had noticed and hadn't been going to tell me - he thought it would be funny to let me go out with them on! Phew good job I noticed before I got too far and could get back inside and put my shoes on! lol
My question? Well it is an obvious one - have you ever done anything like this? have you actually made it to the shops, library, work or out to lunch or dinner with your slippers on? Please, please tell me I am not the only one who is this silly! lol

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you're NOT the only one to have ever done that. I arrived at work about 2 hours early one mornin only to look down & there they were!!!
Even worse, I had 2 pairs of shoes that were identical except for the color. YES you know what I did...I was at a football game & when I looked down I had on 1 dark blue shoe & 1 dark green shoe. Needless to say, I hid my feet alll night!!!

LOL They are giving it the old 'Oh No we don't want to go back to school' routine but it is so easy to see that they can't wait - they were both eager to get everything organised! Niall was attacked the other day by a 20 year old and is really sore and has a broken nose and a nasty gash on his leg but is still going back to school!
I think they love school really and the routine and always having something to do - it is hard for us Mums to have enough energy to make sure they always have something to do in the same way!
I have really missed being here sweety and it is great to be back! xxx

Well HELLO THERE!! Glad to see you back again!! Hope you're on the mend my friend!!
Ok, no I've never done that before but my mom and grandmother have. They wear their slippers almost everywhere and they've forgotten they had them on and waltz right into a store and all over before realizing it and by then it's too late. lol

WEll then I can see you won't go out in your slippers! lol I think people here in Stirling would have given me a lot of strange looks if I had gone out in the slippers!
You know my prayers are always with you guys and I promise I will catch up with everything that has been happening soon , just can't spend too long on here at one time yet and my inbox is overflowing!
I am posting the link that Goodie left for me earlier in the discussion - I think it applies to you too in a lot of ways! Hugs and Love sweety!

LOL Oh no I won't.... I don't wear slippers very often anymore. I used to all the time but now I just wear socks or go barefoot. I hate shoes and go without as much as I can. But these days, in the USA, many people do wear their slippers out in the public and think nothing of it. I think "Good for them!" because life is too short to be worried about such things. Enjoy it for all it's worth!!
Thanks so much for the prayers sweetie!! They're so needed right now and for the next few more months. It's still a long road ahead of us but we're going to do our best to come out smelling like a rose. At least try to anyways....

No way you are by far the only one to go out of the house with house slippers on, lol at least you matched lol. lord knows i have been out of the house so much with my slippers on forgetting to put on my shoes and half the time they dont match my outfits but now it is a tradition for me to just leave with my slippers n not my shoes. i have a neck to tail back injury since 2004 but feb 2008 my back went completely out so i dont walk anymore i am in a wheelchair n i just found out that after 11yrs i am pregnant. i live upstairs so i dont get to get out unless my fiance or my caregiver helps me. well you arent the only one, and i think its cute. happy slipper wearing out in public.

Zelda it is so nice to meet you! I am so sorry about your back injury , I am very lucky in that I can walk just not very far before I have to resort tot he wheelchair. How wonderful that you are now pregnant after so long - that really is fantastic and I am so very, very happy for you. I know it may be more difficult for you but I am sure that it will all be worth while when you have your gorgeous little bundle of joy in your arms! Congratulations and I will be thinking of you! xxx

Well way beack when I was in kindergarden. My mother had to go to work early so my daddy was there to help me get dressed for school. He gave me spiderman slippers to put on. I told him daddy these are bedroom slippers. He didn't listen to me. he told me to put them on anyway. This was way back in the 70s over 20 years ago. I liked Spiderman and Wonderwomen. I use to play like I was Wonderwoman. Anyhow when I got back home from school I told on daddy. It is funny now thinking back that many years ago. Happy Birthday to your daughter. My birthday is the same day August 15.

That's not so sill you know my sweet. People probably wouldn't even notice and if they did...what are they going to do??? Call the cops and have you arrested? I don'tt think so.
I haven't worn my slippers but I've worn odd shoes to a party. I had the same style in navy and black and got dressed quickly in a big rush...

You know how much I love those hugs tickle! I am slowly getting stronger but it has been one step forward and two back for a while - hopefully things are going in the right direction now though! Poor Niamh has had 2 really bad UTI's in the last month - she even had to be hospitalised and is looking at being kept on antibiotics indefinitely which at least should help prevent her being so ill! Love and Hugs xxxx

Hi mummymo! It is so good to see you back here! haha..It would certainly be funny if you got through McDonalds with those cute fluffy slippers on. haha..I had a similar experience before but not with fluffly slippers. My cousin and I had these rubber slippers that are very much the same in style except for the color, hers is blue and mine is red. We were both at our grandmother's house and when I went home, I was wearing her left blue slipper and on the right one, I was wearing my red slipper. The only time I have noticed it was when the passengers in the public transportation I rode were looking at my feet. haha..I felt the my face blushing and but managed to smile at them. haha..When I reached home, my cousin called me and was telling me that she was forced to wear my left red slipper to pair off with her blue right slipper. haha..
Take care always..God Bless!

My dear sweet mummymo I will brutally honest I have never done this since the slippers that I own are huge tiger slippers that I wear when my feet are cold which isn't that often But I always have a pair of sandals right by my front door and I walk around the house either bare foot or with socks so that I'm ready and able for what ever shoes I have decided I would wear for the day. LOL!!!

Well let's put it this way - you are the only person I know under 90 who has done that! ROFL
Good to see you again mummy and I want your slippers! LOL
The only thing I remember doing anywhere close to that is shopping for shoes with a girlfriend. She talked a mile a minute and it was hard to concentrate on my choice. Finally I gave up and we left the store. As we were getting into her car I realized that I was wearing NEW shoes I hadn't paid for and left my other ones in the shoe department! I had to go back and pay and pick up my old shoes, and I never went shoe shopping with that girlfriend again. LOL

I can just see you leaving the old shoes there and walking out in stolen ones, tut tut tut! Just glad that no security guard came running after you before you had a chance to sort it out! lol xxx

Hi Mummymo, Welcome back, you have really been missed and glad you are well enough now to make it back to the computer. Healing huggles.
Slippers, Oh yes many a time so it is definitely not you. I have been to B&Q covered in paint and also in my slippers, the icrecream van outside but that included PJs too LOL as my little one too small to go out on his own and I had already had my bath and got into my nightcloths to snuggle. I wear flat shoes a lot of the time so as slippers are flat too I don't often notice. I drove to the station the other day in them but luckily I was collecting my daughter so didn't need to get out of the car.
At least you realised before you got to McDonalds eh! Glad your daughter had a lovely birthday.
Once again great to see you back. Ellie :D

I have done the pjs and slippers to the icy too honey but luckily he stops right outside my house and it has been a while since i have done it. Is your daughter home still? I bet you are loving having her home. I had both kids birthdays in the last few weeks and it was so lovely , we didn't do much but they both had great days! Hugs xxx

Once isn't that bad sweety - you would be shocked at the number of times I have done something like that! I once took the keys for the pub I worked in home - and I mean the whole bunch of keys for everything instead of just my little bunch for opening up and closing up. My boss called to ask if I had taken them - I checked my bag and they weren't there. He turned the whole pub upside down looking for them and eventually called me again (knowing how dizzy I can be) and asked me to double check - I went back to my bag and there they were a HUGE bunch of keys! OOOPS! lol xxx

LOL Yep you told me and then there are your new shoes so I guess there is a blood connection somewhere in our family history - mind you even if there isn't the family you choose are just as special as your own and you are all very special to us! I will try to find the number and check but I was wondering if it was the instructors for Ross's class that were on strike rather than the centre staff - my thing is run by the physios and they aren't on strike but I am going to call after i have lunch anyway! Kids are both off to school quite happily! xxx

Hello Darling Daughter
When I was pregnant I once went to work in 2 different
shoes.
Then there was the time a bee flew up my sleeve while I was driving to work.
I was afraid I'd be late and was driving on a quiet back shortcut so I
pulled the top off, let the wind whip the bee away and put it back on..
all while driving. I arrived at work just in time to make the staff meeting
which I had to present new ideas to the group. After the meeting one of
my co-workers came up to me and asked if I was making a fashion statement.
I looked down at my pullover and it was very obviously on inside out!

Well, the world makes so much more sense now, with you back in it! Welcome back, darling mummy! You were terribly missed!
I love your story about the slippers! Too funny! But completely understandable and in my way of thinking, not at all out of the ordinary. I have a sort of similar story to tell you. A couple of weeks ago, I was on my way to a physical therapy appointment. Now, I have to say here that I was on some verrrry strong pain killers, and quite stressed out by several things that had been going on in my life, so I wasn't completely on my game to begin with. So anyway, there I was, on the bus, and I had slipped my Crocs off my feet to let them feel the cool of the air conditioning, and placed them on top of my shoes. Well, at one point, I glanced down at my feet, saw them bare, and thought I had forgotten my shoes!!! D'oh! That same day, I had just gotten into the elevator at the Metro Train station, and suddenly, I didn't know where I was or where I was supposed to go. Weird. And rather scary too, frankly. I recovered, and figured it out pretty quickly, but it was honestly a bit upsetting. I'm off those pain killers now and have no intention of going back on them either. I'm not that together in the first place - I don't need any extra help!!!!

Hugs xxxxx

I can imagine how scary it was nova honey but I have to say I can never imagine you as getting old and losing your marbles - you will always be forever young and wildly eccentric in my mind and heart!

You know, I was thinking of you when I told my doctor that I didn't want the Percocet anymore. I was remembering that conversation we had that day. I'm back to what I've been taking for the last 13 years or so and it works quite nicely without making me so completely loopy. There's actually something called Fibrofog, which describes the forgetfulness and loopiness that comes with having fibromyalgia, so I truly don't need something that makes me foggier and loopier.
The shoe thing I thought was funny. The elevator thing scared me a bit. Gave me a tiny look into my possible future, when I'm very very old. Yikes. Gives me the shivers.
I hope you're still feeling better, Mummy. It's so great to have you back. Hugs, darlin. xxx

well mummymo in my case it was sort of a matter of
necessity that I showed up at work with one ordinary shoe
'and one slipper. as I did not have to go to work until
two in the afternoon I putizied around doing various
'things among which was cutting back a corn on my toe
with a razor blade. not a good thing to do by the way.
well I had just about got rid of the corn and my hand
slipped, cutting a neat slice off the top of my little
'toe. much hurt, much agony, much not wanting to wear
a shoe over it. so went with a slipper on my hurt foot.
ofcourse I had to do much explaining to all my coworkers
about my strange mix of slipper and shoe with a brace. lol.
