The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is just amazing. Its a book that makes you think and can really take you anywhere.
Have you also read Einsteins dreams by Alan Lightman? I think you love that also!

Graphic novels are way cool also!
Ever read Watchmen? It's quite a heavy duty read even though its a graphic novel.

Fantasy is my favorite genre. Though I try to get myself into reading other types such as novel, classics, fiction and non-fiction.

I like horror. One of my favorite authors is Anne Rice. I also like a good Sci-fi book. 2001 by Arthur C. Clark is a good one. I could list many more.

I tend to like factual books these days, they don't have to be boring either.
I remember as a kid factual books were written differently, they had more of a flow and inspired you to read more. Unfortunately I've notice that many books are often fact after fact and not written in any style, which I think is a shame for children, learning should always be enjoyable, otherwise how do you remember something that isn't really that exciting?
One of my fav factual books at the moment is "We Are Here" by Bremner, Bird & Fortune. Its so funny the way it presents the info, while everything is true, it doesn't land quite as hard as it would if reported by a news team.
Well worth a read!

hmm i like books with romance, comedy, and those that have witty characters. occasionally i read paranormals but mainly i just read contemporary romance. nothing too complicated, i prefer a simple plot with a happy ending. my ebooks occupy more than 2GB of space on my hard drive and i haven't read most of them yet. i got them through recommendations and a lot of those books i don't really like but it seems like such a waste if i delete them so i leave it alone^^

daisyfluffy - hi and welcome to mylot.
I read sci-fi. I like this genre because the writers are talented, not cookie cutter writers. The stories I choose are complex and the science part consists of hard facts.
I get all excited reading about black holes, quantum foam, FTL, and AIs. As with any genre, not all of the writers are good. Some write books in a trilogy, much like romances or fantasy.
But these trilogies are better than any other genre. The story lines don't get boring and it's not the same characters doing the same thing, only in a different place.
I have to stop writing now, because I can really get going about reading, and you only asked one simple question. sorry. okay, bye.

I enjoy reading nonfiction most of the time because I love to learn about things but if Im not reading a good book then Im reading magazines, like science, politics and new age type magazines. Since nonfiction is so broad I can name a few titles that I've enjoyed reading, "Under the Duvet" by Marian Keyes, "Farewell, my Subaru" by Doug Fine, "Pen on Fire" by Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, "Bad Boy" by Walter Dean Myers* and "The Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary R. Renard, you can find me on Shelfari.com if you want to check out my other books.
Im not a big fiction reader if you compare it to my nonfiction picks because I just always feel like theres something else I could be learning so its hard for me to really stop long enough to enjoy a story but I do have one by my bed, its Dean Kootz "False Memory" that I read a few pages at a time. The elections coming up dont really help too much either because Im trying to keep up with that but reading I still love. Have fun here on Mylot and try not to take it too seriously otherwise you wont have as much fun

for the past books ive read, majority of them are fiction. I love reading them during my leisure.
I love spy novels, romantic novels from Judith McNaught only, and sometimes i read Bob Ong (local writer) and Janet Evanovich's novels if there's available.
