hi everyone... Last Sunday i went to "dreamland" as volunteer teachers...part of our mission of teaching is to impart Chinese culture to the youth of that community...before we went there we have a meeting first on what to teach and how... everyone knows that the "dove" is the symbol for peace. and the crow is regarded as bad omen. but did everyone know that the "crow" is also revered in china as the ultimate symbol of filial piety? the "crow" is the only bird that will comeback and take care of their parents when they are old. they will look for food chew it and feed it to their parents... so does the word "bird brain" hit us. if we don't take care of our parents. we are human we are supposed to be more intelligent than this bird... here is the story: long time ago there was this young man, his mother is old and sick. they are poor and he is disturbed by their poor conditions. one day he think of abandoning his poor old mother in the wilderness and let her die alone. Without a word, he pickup his mother on his back and they went out to the wilderness. on the way his mother placed her hands covering both his ears. He is irritated and asked "MOTHER way are you covering my ears!" the mother answered. "Son, i saw both your ears are already red because of the cold weather... i am placing my hands in your ears to transfer the heat from my hands to your ears to keep them warmth." Upon hearing this the young man's foot steps slowed down. he then burst into tears and confessed to his mother about his intentions. "mother, when i was young and sick you are always there for me you didn't abandoned me even if its hard you tried to nurture me. now that i am old. i tried to abandoned you. but you still show concerned for me even you know you are in danger. mother i am wrong. please forgive me i will never abandoned you." the became well known filial son in his community from that they...^_^ SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

Hi metal_monkee! That is really an amazing story to share dear friend. I know that crows are signs of bad omen but never knew that it is the ultimate symbol of filial piety. I am so glad to learn about this. I see crows now in a different light and I do think that many of us should take the example of crows in taking care of the elders. Such awesome trait! Take care always..God Bless!

A long story that's worth the time reading ^_^ At least, it reminds us of our conscious that we are never alone, and the fact that, we always care for ourselves and only want the ebst for ourselves at the expense of others ^_^ Hopefully that this story of yours, will get ple to search their souls and see how much benefits they have reaped at the expense of others ^_^

Hi m_m! That was such a touching story, sometimes we disregard our parents as they grow older and forget all they've done for us. But it's always good to remember their sacrifices,and how they loved us unconditionally,that can keep us grounded. Thanks for also sharing the information about the crows,i didn't know that they cared for their parents as well. Who would have guessed that a bird that is looked on in a negative way could display such regards for their elders,some humans should try to emmulate such characteristics, then maybe we could truly say we are humane. {{{HUGS}}}
