Mine was pretty boring, we didn't have computers when I was at school so I think the first time I used them was going to a word processing course. Eventually I went back and did a computing degree as a mature age student!

I'm in school time, I have use a computer with Dos OS. At that time, i learn about the proggraming and the syntax in DOS. Now, I have windows OS and everything is more easy to do. My first computer with windows OS, I use it for playing a game and slowly learn about the word and spreadsheet processing.

Hi winzpc It sounds like you are happy you now have windows. There is a lot you can do in a spreadsheet - lots of calculations and formatting!

The first time I ever used a computer was when I was 12 years old. The first program that I used was a word processor called WordStar and Lotus 123 at school. It was very boring back then not until I learn how to play games on DOS like Prince of Persia, Silent Hunter etc. It gets more interesting when I started using and learning Windows 95. the first program that I learned is the paint program.

Thanks slavezero I remember WordStar and Lotus 123 - Lotus was the king of spreadsheets befor microsoft bought Excel! Yes, I remember having to learn windows and getting used to using a mouse (seems funny that I found this more difficult than typing into a command line). You also have a goodmemory remembering about paint!

I was born in 1981 and started using computer in 1988 when there was Commodore 64 and first time I used computer to play game. The RAM of the disk drive was I guess in bytes and each game took about 45 to 50 minutes to load. The Commodore 64 was to be connected with the TV, with a joystick to play, heavy keyboard and to load a game you have to write this:- LOAD"$",8,1 (You Type) The computer then loads and asks READY (Commodore 64 Responds) LIST (You type to show list in the old floppy with a circle in centre) Then after seeing the list , type run (game name) and then the game starts loading. I do not know what computer language this is as I have studied, C, C++ and other but never came across with the above mentioned programming syntax. If someone knows please let me know by sending me a "Private Message"

Thankyou Ashar, you have probably bought back memories for some people. That couldn't be assembler or basic could it. I don't know if the commodore used common programming languages, or if they had their own. Typing list, sounds like an operating system command more than a programming language, but I don't know for sure.

I first used it when I was 3-4 years old. That time I used to learn ABC(the alphabet) from the computer(there was a software for it). It was such fun. I remember using DOS and Win3.1 which we launched as an actual program by typing win.exe. :D Cheers!

Thanks Jolope - yes my nephews and nieces all use computers for games and the older ones use the internet. I used to use dos then to without a mouse - it took a bit to get used to, using a mouse. I think I first used a mouse on a mac, maybe it was before windows.

My first experience with the computer was a 'BASIC' class. It was a tough class for me and I learned nothing. Then I learned WORD STAR, and it like a modern typing class. It was happen 22 years ago. Since that, the computer 'flying very very very fast...'

Thanks Nizhama yes, it's amazing to think where computers are now - you probably wouldn't have had the WWW at all then! Who would have thought back then that it would be like this!
