Have U Ever experienced Wreth/Destruction by Flash Floods and Heavy Rain

A few days back there was very Heavy Rain followed for strong winds for 5 hours in the early morning and when I wake up I found the main street outside my house flooded with water. When I went for bath my bath room become full of water say 6" deep in all the bath room. When I went outside to check what the problem is I found that the main sever system was choked and the rain water was entering the low lying house. During these five hours of heavy rain the water entered the houses of entire city and it damages the many house hold items. In some of the markets the water entered the shops and show rooms damaging the material lying in in the shops and showrooms. It took about 4 hours when the storm water channels were cleared and water started receding. At about 11 AM I started for my office and on the way I found trees and telephone Polls lying on roads and there was heavy destruction all around. Later on I learned from the TV news that this one day's heavy rain has caused destruction all around in the city there were losses worth million dollars in our currency. Have you ever experienced such destruction and losses please discuss.
