We had fried fish for lunch today. Scrumptious!! And the cats went absolutely nuts, meowing like mad at the aroma.
Frying fish as well as eating it is a delicious experience. I love the sound it makes when it fries and I love the aroma too. It simply clings to the air, the rich odor of frying fish, and I bet it travels for miles too. And how wonderful it looks when it is fried crisp -- a rich brown color, so crispy, so juicy inside, and it just melts in your mouth. You have to eat it with a small slice of lime, onion, and chopped coriander. Yummy!! I hope I have got your mouths watering by now.
And for those of you who complain that fish gets stuck to the pan and breaks into pieces when you attempt to fry it, here is a simple tip for you. Just sprinkle some table salt on the hot pan, pour oil on it, and then your marinated fish. The table salt does the trick. I don't know how, but it prevents fish from sticking to the pan.
So, got any nice "fried fish" tales to relate?
Cheers and happy mylotting

yes i do like my fish friend. my favourite fish is actually the black pomfret. it taste really great when rubbed with some salt & pepper and fried. the aroma is heavenly and i'm starting to drool just thinking about it. my cats like the black pomfret fried too. i usually will just give them the flesh without skin. however, they not eat it if it has turned cold.
the table salt tip is cool. i'll definitely give it a try the next time i fry fish. cheers ;p

Catfish is my Mom's favorite. When I was a kid, I used to enjoy catfish eggs. Isn't catfish a bit "fishy"? LOL

Hi! I also love fried fish and another tip is you should put the fish when the oil is very hot. It also prevents the fish from sticking to the pan. And to know whether the fish is ready for turning, listen to the sound it makes, when the sound is low, the fish is cooked and is ready for turning.

You should try mackerels fried to a crisp brown with a lime squeezed over them. You could even try it with vinegar or tomato sauce, but nothing like lime. Really yummy! Hope you have a great dinner!! :)

I love fried fish as long as it's boneless. I really hate having to pick through the fish when my mouth is drooling from the smells and then after all the work I end up with a fish bone stuck in my throat.

I love fish, whether it be fried or broiled or baked, but I prefer fried. Fried catfish, can't get any better than that or fried perch. I can eat a ton of fried perch. Being from Louisiana fish is one of the staples of the house, you just go out back by the river or across the street to the bay and catch tonights supper. Catfish is my favorite. They catch redfish in La, but I don't care for it, it seems dry to me. Thanks for the tip on it not sticking to the pan will try, yes you have my mouth watering at 4am in the morning, might be a good thing for supper tonight.

My pet cat also used to go crazy when my mom cooked fried fish. My cat was siamese but do you know that hair of cats start falling if they eat fish. I love eating fried fish alot but I always follow the fish eating season. In my country Pakistan, fish has breeding season from May to August. During these months I do not eat fish. If you are a regular fish eater then you must know that taste of fish changes during its breeding season.

Oh dear, are you sure that their hair will fall off if they eat fish? But I thought fish was NATURAL FOOD for cats. :(

I like fried fish as well, I do not fry fish at home, but any time I am someplace that has it, i enjoy getting a piece. The last time I had it was on the 4th of July at a firemen's picnic. The fish was deep fried, and was the hit of the picnic. The line for people waiting for fish was like a department store give away They had plenty of it, and everyone was really enjoying it.

Damn. That was a very mouthwatering description. Thanks for the tip too. I miss eating fried fish. I can't just eat any kind of fish though. The only types I can eat are milkfish and tilapia. Maybe I might get me some fried milkfish this weekend.

i like fried fish too cause they are really satisfying. where you from . is fried fish normal food people eating in your country. cause here in the philippines. it is just normal that we eat fried fish. anyways, when i was younger i always had fried fish for dinner. cause they are much easier to prepare and much cheaper in our budget than buying meats. since fish is very healthy too. but i have not eaten fried fish lately.
