i came across with that really much in school someone says you `how are you` and dont listen to the answer i really get angry when it happens to me ok people might be busy not enough time to listen you but then why are they asking `how are you` to be gentle i think they be more rude in that way, anyway i want to ask you that Do you know how many people say, "how are you?" and don't listen to the answer? or are you one of them or is that also happened to you? happy mylottings

yeah i know what you mean!! it is so annoying when they ask you how you are but then when you tell them they are far from interested!! Then it feels like a waste even trying to explain!! And then i try and ignore them after hehe lol

I have had it happen to me, and honestly, I have done it too! We get stuck in our "automatic" ways to speak to people. It's sad, but true. If we would be more genuine in our introductions we could start a love revolution!!!

It seems to be a polite greeting, and I agree with you, for many people it is just an automatic response to seeing someone. They don't even think about what they're saying, don't wait for a response and sometimes don't even seem to know you're there. I also agree it is more polite to just say Hi or Hello and not ask if you're really interested.
