How U will React If some one Slap you in a Fit

Yesterday while returning from my office I went to a Religious place to pray and thanks the god for blessings. Outside the place some people had gathered and I felt that some thing has happened. When I inquired from them they told me that a woman in a fuss and fit has slapped a gentleman. That gentleman was standing there silently and that woman was laughing at him. Some one asked him why do not you reverse on her. That gentleman smilingly said I am thinking to help this lady and when the woman become cool he asked how can I help you,do you need any help. The woman shouted at him and said I hat Men........... What could be the reasons of this episode, can you express to me I think some thing wrong might had been happened to this woman by some person in life. Please share your views.
