I've been working on an album for a little while now, and would just like some feedback...Only honest opionions please, don't be afraid to tell me i suck, haha.
There's currently only two songs up on the website, both without vocals, but they will come very soon...Well, let me know what you think! Thanks. -Mike

To be honest your site scared the crap out of me when it popped up. That pic is grotesque but it fits with your music style and site theme well.
For starters I want to let you know that I'm not a fan of heavy metal. I love melodies, both vocally and musically and also a great mix of up-tempo and ballad type songs. But I'm not one those haters that thinks that music can't be good just because that is not their preferred style of music.
I think "A Little Taste" is a great up-tempo and intense song. The instruments are played superbly. At no point do I feel myself being overcome with noise. Every part has it's own place yet they all mesh together to make a cohesive voice. When it comes to adding vocals I would hope for a more Killswitch Engage style, with more melody than screaming and incoherence. It would only take away from the crispness that you created with the music.
The "NEW rough song" is once again played very well. I really like the Morgan Freeman quote from Seven and I'm assuming that will work its way into the lyrical point of the song. The picking and the harmonics overlayed really give a floating feeling that lured me into a sense of safety then kicked me in the face with the transition to the heavy riffage. The heavy part after that is where I don't like. It's great musically but I feel like it would fit better in another song. Going from soft to heavy to heavier to soft again makes me lose track of where the song is headed and what kind of song it is. My opinion might change with an added vocal line that would draw the song together enough to make it work as far as structure. (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.)
Overall, I think the two tunes are great. You definitely have a good thing going. Personally I would like to hear some good meaningful lyrics. One of the main reasons I'm not a fan of heavy metal is overuse of screaming as a nonsense filler. A metal songwriter may have a point to get across but it's so hard for that point to get through when 1)you can't understand the lyrics 2) the lyrics aren't even there. A song is so much more than the music itself. The melody and lyric is what makes a song memorable and personally makes me want to listen to it. Musicians as yourself are so good at the playing that I think you're doing yourself a disservice by copping out by not finishing the deal with a good lyric.
That's my take. I love listening to and writing good music and not being biased by a love of heavy metal, I hope this is some good constructive thought. Keep rockin' man!
