Slim fast or other liquid diet aids

I was in walmart yesterday and came across the diet section with the slimfast, bars etc. My son and his wife are using the liquid diet meal in a can thing.....not slimfast but the walmart brand. Have any of you tried these? Do you like the results? I would like to find something to fill me up when I am hungry or use it for a quick meal but can't imagine being full from one of these. So I am interested to find out what you think of them.

I have never tried wal-mart brand. I did try slim fast years ago and did nothing for me. Now i just eat the way I want and hope for the best if I loose fine if I don't fine. My one friensd she walks everynight she lost a bunch of weight. That way. She started out with one block and now she is up to almost 4 miles a night. lol I don't have the energy for that. I could but hey. My comp. needs me. lol Have a goodnight.

Hey jillhill. I have not used Walmart brand of the liquid diet supplements. However, years ago, I tried Slimfast and another one that was powdered that I mixed with water, I think it was. I think a person can lose weight with these products. But, for me, it's tough to just drink my lunch or breakfast. I guess I think I need to chew! The times I was most successful with it was in my 20s. I would take a can or the powdered stuff to work and drink that for lunch. Basically, there was no other food around so I had to be satisfied with that. When I tried to have it at home, I'd always end up eating something else with it.

That's what I am worried about....the need to really chew food....I don't know if a liquid lunch would cut it! Glad you are on tonight....I see fay is disapating....Glad you are okay!

Thanks, jill. Yeah, we got about 3 inches of rain and some wind gusts up to 35 mph or something like that. No thunderstorms even. No tornadic activity either. We were thankful.

I was on a Slimfast diet about 20 yrs. ago and it worked very well. I really didn't need to lose but about 5-10 lbs. I developed a major liking to the chocolate drink and some of the bars. Eventually I began to crave these bars and started to put some weight back on. I never felt full. I haven't tried any other liquid diet aids. I do much better laying off the chocolate and Pepsi. That's what causes me a little bit weight gain.

I don't think I would be satisfied drinking my lunch! I was just wondering how everyone did on it....my kids like it.

I loved the crunch bars and chocolate drinks but within an hour or two I was hungry again. Might have been mind over matter.

Hi Jill, I haven't tried the Slimfast one but years ago I did use the Herbalife one to help me to lose weight and it did fill me up, I used to blend with milk but add strawberries too and I was fine till mealtime. I had two of these then a main meal, good for you as all the nutrition but I enjoy eating too much these days to bother with them now. Ellie :D

I lost 25lbs and 6" off of each thigh so done very well with it and have stayed slim ever since. Good luck, I hope you reach your goal. Ellie :D

hai , i am also taking the herbalife , but i take it with fresh orange, cant take the milky flavours .. its not bad .. but i always take 1 heavy meal on Sundays as i cook and enjoy meal with my husband .. so far so good ..

You can actually find slim fast in Walmart, they have different flavors depending on what you like,and it does fill you up for a meal, excellent way to help along with lots of exercise as well. Chocolate is the kind i like,it's a little thick but doesn't take long to get used to. Good luck in finding something that is right for you.

there is now a slimming water which is supposed to be from France..,its called Hydroxydase..,it not only helps you slim down but it also detoxifies our body..,

Hi Elaine, We have Skinny Water here in the UK that is supposed to do something similar. I did buy a couple of bottles and must admit I didn't feel hungry or crave anythign sugary. Ellie :D

I haven't tried the Walmart brand of it, but did use Slim Fast years ago. I didn't really follow it strictly but I am thinking of doing it again. I do know that the Slim Fast Optima Meal Bar was filling for me. I was hungry one day while grocery shopping and they were on sale for $1.00 a bar. So I bought one and ate it on the way driving home. It was pretty good tasting, nice and chocolatey. I was very hungry before I ate it, my stomach rumbling and all. I ate it at about 5:00 pm and I wasn't hungry until about 1:00am after eating it. That was pretty impressive to me. I think I will try it and see if it works. I have a lot of weight to lose. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Take a look at the sodium content on the can. Those diet drinks can often be loaded.

I tried the slimfast diet a few years ago, and I have to say that I ended up eating more while I was on that than on any other diet ever! I think I ended up putting weight on, those shakes just never filled me up at all, but I think it was because my mind was telling my tummy that I had only had a drink and not food so my tummy refused to be full!

Yes you have to eat a since able dinner and drink lots of water with the shakes to stay full and if that dosent work you buy additional foods like the bars and they have pasta also but how well the slim fast diet works can also depend on how much a person needs to lose if they need to lose more then 19 or 20 pounds, then i think it might be better to try somethings, but like i said it worked for me but everyone is different i guess.

I used slimfast a long time ago - but not really as a meal replacement. I used it because I usually avoided breakfast and it was something easy to mix up or bring and didn't require any time or mess. These days I get protein powder mix instead and blend it with water and ice. With the extra protein (a serving which is a scoop mixed with about 5 oz of water in a shaker bottle with an ice cube or two), it can fill me up for at least 2 hours, and if you figure you have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, that means you eat about every 2 hours. Another good idea is a high protein cereal or snack bar, not the meal replacement ones, just ones that are higher protein. I have tried the south beach high protein cereal bars and they are pretty yummy - and filling. 10 gms of protein, only 140 cal. Some ideas for what to do if you find you're still hungry - try to up your protein, this will help. Up your fiber intake, this will help too. Most fruits and vegetables include fiber. Complex carbs tend to be fiber rich too, and you can take fiber pills if you need more and can't seem to get it from your diet alone. Try to include snacks that are low calorie but high volume, such as pop corn or raw veggies, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit (like grapes, melon, strawberries, an apple, pear, plum, etc).

Hi jill, In my 58 years of dieting, I have learned that none of those things work. Yes, if you are very good and do all the things you are suppose to do, any diet will help you lose some pounds, but as they say, as soon as you go back to your normal eating habits, you will not only regain those lost pounds but you will gain pounds that you never had. Remember these words, DIETS don't work!!! If you want something to give you some temporary satisfaction, try one of those drinkable yogurts. They are very silling and satisfying. An apple or any fruit will fill the gap till your next meal. Pay attention to your calorie intake and walk as much as you can. These are the things that you can do forever and lose the weight naturally. Remember, Diets don't work!! leenie

i drink a nutrients shake when i'm ill and don't wanna eat because i kept getting really weak it did the trick i started on slimfast originally cos i literally had no idea what else to do was ok but expensive which is why i got the nuntriant one can't remember what it was called came in yellow and pink can. Are you using it to loose weight? Slimfast filled me up but not for very long when i was on my better days don't know how long i could last with it as a meal substitute i found making your own smoothies with real fruit much more filling and i felt better to. When i was loosing weight a good trick i learned is to have a big drink of water before a meal you eat less and get full up quicker. Also whenever you feel hungry drink water to make sure your not thirst sounds silly but alot of people confuse needing a drink and hunger. They just get a craving type feeling and automatically go for food

I used slim fast a long time ago just to lose a few extra pounds it works but only if you fallow directions closely and exercise it helped me and years later the weight stayed off but i dont know how good the walmarts brand is because i only used the slim fast brand there shake taste good, but i never tried the bars, i only used the shakes and i ate a sinceable dinner it for 3 months cause i didn't need to lose much i was 135 and im now weigh 116 so i stoped using it once i reached my goal weight.

I was on the slimfast diet, but it didnt work for me like many of the others on here. I have a big appetite and love food, so for me a drink just wasnt cutting it. Getting rid of soda is a major thing and drinking more water definately helps. Im a junk food junkie, so eating the diabetic bars like 50/50 really help because they taste great but arent packed with sugar and carbs.

I have used slim fast before a long time ago. I didn't like it because it filled me up for a short time and than I was hungry again. When you think about it liquids don't keep a person full for very long. My experience with things like slim fast and those kind of diet aids are that they don't work. That is for me any way.

I think on most diets after you quit you balloon up again...my sister did the adkins....lost 20 lbs and gained 30 back!
